    Abstract: bility assessment using a single response index under small or large ground motion slrength may be conser-valive or dangerous ,and the comprehensive damage index obtained by applying the variable weight modelin this paper for vulnerability assessment can adapt to the change of ground motion intensity , comprehen-sively and objectively predict the probability of the dam body reaching various levels of damage under dif-ferent ground motion inltensity , and provide relerence for the seismic salety design , earthquake disaster pre-diction and risk analysis of the concrete gravity dam structure.Nowadays ,a single response index is often used to analyze and sltudy the vulnerability of con-crele gravity dams , and thus it is difficult to comprehensively characlerize the damage probability of thedam struclure. This paper considers the results of the joint action of multiple indicators , taking the dis-placement of the concrete gravily dam crest relative to the heel direction , the overall damage index ,and thecumulative sliding displacement of the dam base as the single response indicators ,using nonlinear dynamictime hislory analysis and calculation according to the efficiency coefficient method. For the efficiency scoreof each single response index , the variable weight model is used to obtain the comprehensive damage indexof the dam. We analyze the correlation between the comprehensive damage index and other response inde-xes , propose the four-level earthquake damage classification standard based on the comprehensive damageindex, and comparatively study the seismic vulnerability curve of the concrele gravity dam based on thesingle response index and the comprehensive damage index.
