Abstract: [Purposes]This paper aims to serve as a reference for Chinese academic journals to deal with copyright issues in the future Open Access practices.[Methods]With the network literature survey method, we surveyed and summarized the main types of author’s copyright retention in international practices. Then the stakeholder theoretical analysis method is used to identify the relevant stakeholders involved in author’s copyright retention and analyze the interests and main conflicts among the stakeholders.[Findings]We attempt to explore solutions to international copyright conflicts of interest, and suggest that authors need to improve their cognition, funding institutions and scientific research institutions should actively participate in the negotiations, establishing a scientific evaluation system and incentive mechanism, developing new academic exchange models, adjusting the pattern of interest distribution in order to coordinate conflicts and balance interests.[Conclusions]The digital transformation of periodical publishing institutions is the trend of the times. Chinese academic journals should timely change the separation of publishing houses and database providers, and form a unified publishing body. At the same time, the publishing institutions should pay more attention to copyright policies, OA policies and copyright agreements.
