  • Research on Collaborative Models of Information Literacy Education in Foreign Universities from the Perspective of Stakeholders

    Abstract: The changes in the information environment and user demands have prompted innovations in the content, methods, and models of information literacy education. Collaborative cooperation among stakeholders is an effective way to enhance the effectiveness of information literacy education. This article, using a case analysis approach, analyzes the collaborative experiences and practices of stakeholders in information literacy education in foreign universities. It dissects the composition, functions, and roles of stakeholders in information literacy education and summarizes the collaborative models of information literacy education among stakeholders in foreign universities. The collaborative models in foreign universities provide insights for collaborative approaches to information literacy education in Chinese universities: clarifying the interests and goals of stakeholders to promote the continuous development of collaborative relationships, actively participating in the construction of digital campuses to enrich the objects and content of information literacy education, establishing collaborative assessments to improve collaborative mechanisms, and leveraging collaborative education to elevate the status of librarians and demonstrate the value of libraries.

  • Analysis and Insights on Special Collections Teaching Support Services in Ten American University Libraries

    Abstract: Special collections teaching support services directly support university talent training and are also an important way to develop and utilize library special collections. Using online survey methods, this article explores the content of special collections teaching support services in ten American university libraries, summarizing four major service highlights: having a clear teaching philosophy, establishing experiential learning projects, providing detailed service guides, and following digital teaching trends. Five insights for special collections teaching support services in domestic university libraries are proposed: proactively develop special collections resources construction and services based on teaching needs; design special collections teaching activities for the cultivation of primary source literacy; base on enhancing teacher capabilities to carry out service case demonstrations and training exchanges; implement active learning and teaching strategies to conduct classroom learning and project research; and innovate special collections teaching support services in line with digital teaching trends.

  • Improvement Strategies for the Utilization of Patent Literature in Universities from the Perspective of Intellectual Property Information Literacy

    Abstract: With citation analysis, this article initially examines the types of references in journal articles in the field of natural sciences collected by the CNKI from C9 League universities during 2015 to 2020, to indirectly understand the current status of patent literature utilization in universities. Subsequently, it uses interview method to investigate the usage of patent literature among the faculty research groups and students of science and engineering at Hunan University, to directly comprehend the situation and related factors influencing the utilization of patent literature in universities. Lastly, from the perspective of intellectual property information literacy, this paper proposes relevant strategies to improve the utilization of patent literature by teachers and students in universities.

  • Current Status and Strategies for Patent Information Services in the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC): A Survey Based on the TISC Website

    Abstract: In order to identify the issues in the patent information services of the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) and propose strategies for improvement, this paper primarily employs the network research method, supplemented by the literature research method. The investigation and analysis of the current status of TISC’s patent information services are conducted from three dimensions: TISC’s patent information services column, service content, and service interactivity. The research reveals problems such as the irrationality of the patent information services column, uneven levels of patent information services, a lack of advanced patent information services, and insufficient interactivity in patent information services. Strategies for improvement are proposed in four aspects: standardizing the patent information services column, enhancing the level of patent information services, deepening fundamental patent information services, and emphasizing service interactivity.

  • Practical Research on the Construction of “Red Reading Spaces” in Libraries in the New Era

    Abstract: In recent years, education, training, and learning related to “red culture” have become new focal points of cultural demand among the public. The construction of reading spaces with “red culture” as the theme has become a significant area of research. This article analyzes the background and current status of the construction of “red reading spaces” in libraries in China. It explores in-depth the design, services, and literature resource construction of these spaces. The study provides new perspectives for libraries to innovate in promoting “red resources” reading, disseminating “red culture”, and enhancing “red space” services.

  • Reflections and Practices on Theme-based Construction of Local Literature: A Case Study of the Establishment of Pudong Literature Center

    Abstract: In the context of the transformational demands in local literature work due to the changes in service philosophy and development in the new era, this article envisions a new strategy for the creation of Pudong Literature Center, aiming to open a new landscape in local literature development and services. Through the combination of on-the-spot investigation and literature review, it analyzes the status of theme-based construction in local literature and draws lessons from the experiences of economically developed regions in China, proposing construction concepts and principles. Seizing the opportunity presented by the establishment of regional local literature centers, it explores innovative ideas and measures for the theme-based construction of local literature through practical examples: creating six key themes for Pudong literature and driving the construction of Pudong Literature Center with five major tasks.

  • Cross-disciplinary Perspective on the Identification of Hot Interdisciplinary Topics in the Field of Genetic Engineering and Topic Evolution Analysis

    Abstract: In order to more accurately grasp the research hotspots and development trends of interdisciplinary studies, this research proposes a method for calculating the interdisciplinarity of topics and combines it with topic intensity to comprehensively identify hot interdisciplinary topics, and to predict the future development trends of these topics. The study selects papers in the field of genetic engineering from 2000 to 2019 in the Web of Science database for empirical analysis. It first uses the LDA model to mine topics, then identifies hot interdisciplinary topics by calculating topic intensity and topic interdisciplinarity, and finally divides the timeline into windows to draw the trend charts of topic intensity and topic interdisciplinarity, analyzing the results. The empirical results show that there are 21 important topics in the field of genetic engineering, covering 7 hot topics, 14 interdisciplinary topics, and 2 hot interdisciplinary topics. According to the trend of topic intensity, these 21 topics are divided into 3 rising topics, 7 declining topics, and 11 stable topics, with most topics showing an upward trend in the degree of interdisciplinarity.

  • A Study on the Driving Factors and Development Countermeasures of Digital Twin City Construction

    Abstract: Digital twin technology has instigated a transformative paradigm and trajectory in the evolution of smart cities, positioning digital twin cities as a new carrier for urban digital transformation and the development of digital economy. This paper aims to extract the driving factors of digital twin city construction and provide guidance and suggestions for the all-factor development path of digital twin cities in China. Through the literature research method and the network survey method, this paper analyzes the construction experience of nine international digital twin city/ region cases. Combining internal and external driving factors, it formulates the “4+5” driving factor model for digital twin cities. The construction of digital twin cities should identify the positioning of project construction, enhance the top-level comprehensive design, establish a twin collaborative system oriented towards on-demand “twin”, and ultimately create an open digital twin city space.

  • Application of Risk Assessment in Integrated Pest Management in Libraries

    Abstract: To effectively prevent and manage the risks of pests and mold in library collections, this article proposes a risk assessment system based on the concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which includes the processes of risk identification and risk rating. This provides a new perspective and approach for the management of harmful organisms in libraries. Through risk assessment, the risk status of collections can be promptly understood, allowing for the rational allocation of limited resources and the development of efficient response plans. The article also provides specific assessment tables to help readers more clearly understand the process and outcome of risk assessment, offering theoretical references and practical guidance for related institutions to solve problems.

    Abstract: Liang Qichao has profound theoretical knowledge and rich practical experience in mobilizing social forces to participate in the construction of libraries in modern China. Examining his fundraising practices not only provides insights for contemporary library fundraising but also underscores the mission and value of Chinese librarians. This article, situated within the context of Chinese modern historical transformations, elucidates the backdrop of Liang Qichao’s library fundraising initiatives. It draws examples from his publicly initiated fundraising campaigns for Wanmucaotang Library, Songpo Library, and Dongyuan Library. It explores his fundraising mechanisms across dimensions such as positioning, organization, promotion, management, methods, and feedback. Delving into Liang Qichao’s fundraising philosophy and mechanisms provides profound insights for guiding social involvement in current library construction. The library community should fully recognize the value of fundraising, strengthen fundraising management, and prioritize innovative fundraising approaches to better guide social participation in library development.

  • Research on University Libraries’ Student Mental Health Support Services: A Case Study of Libraries in the UK and the US

    Abstract: The issue of student mental health has become a common concern among families, schools, and the whole society, with an increasing number of university libraries joining in the activities supporting student mental health. Libraries in Chinese universities can learn from the theoretical and empirical research on student mental health support conducted by university libraries in the UK and the US to better improve the mental health conditions of their students. This study reviews the concepts and practical cases of student mental health support services in university libraries in the UK and the US, summarizing experiences from which. It offers insights for university libraries in China on providing student mental health support services: establishing a holistic and systematic view of student mental health, actively seeking collaborations to enhance the professionalism and coverage of services, and developing new service forms suitable for the environment.

  • Research on the Library Empowerment in the Construction of New Public Cultural Spaces

    Abstract: The empowerment of libraries in shaping new public cultural spaces constitutes a core element of building a new public cultural infrastructure system and spatial service scenarios. This article employs deductive and inductive methods, along with case analyses, to explore a research framework for the role of libraries in the development of new public cultural spaces. The framework is analyzed across three dimensions: theoretical empowerment, practical empowerment, and standard empowerment. Additionally, the article proposes implementation pathways for the future development of new public cultural spaces in China. Theoretical empowerment involves guiding the construction model of main and branch libraries with third space theory, directing the socialized operation model with spatial production theory, and guiding the urban-rural cultural integration model with spatial justice theory. Practical modalities are shifting towards the extension of public cultural cloud space scenarios driven by digital transformation, the intelligent expansion of public library space transformation and operations, and the transition of urban cultural spatial services facilitated by the construction of the “City of Libraries”. Standard empowerment encompasses relevant standards and norms in library architecture, library services, and library assessments. Looking forward, libraries need to enhance development pathways by improving related standards, strengthening technological developments, aligning with practical industry needs, and constructing a comprehensive supply system. This will ultimately contribute to the establishment of a modern, independent public cultural service system with Chinese characteristics.

  • Progress, Challenges and Strategies in the Construction of New Public Cultural Space in Libraries

    Abstract: This article explores the innovative experiences in constructing new public cultural spaces in libraries, aiming to facilitate the systematic, phased, and focused involvement of libraries in the construction of a modern public cultural service system. Utilizing literature review and meta-analysis methods, it distills the progress made in libraries’ practical actions to govern new public cultural spaces. This involves expanding the scope of spatial services, highlighting distinctive spatial patterns, enhancing the upgrading of spatial norms, and expanding the spatial content system. The construction of new public cultural spaces is moving towards integrated urban- rural development, universal accessibility, and nationwide coverage. However, it also faces practical challenges such as insufficient policy provision, blind spots in grassroots services, insufficient provision of service content and deviations from evaluation systems. Future efforts in the construction of new public cultural spaces in libraries should expedite the filling of grassroots gaps, drive spatial transformations, optimize integrated formats, and guide social participation. These measures aim to continually pioneer a new era in the construction of innovative public cultural spaces, contributing industry value to the high-quality development of the public cultural service system.

  • Research on Spatial Turn of Urban Public Cultural Services Purchased by Government

    Abstract: As an important guarantee mechanism to practice the governance concept of “people’s city”, exploring the effective path of government purchasing of urban public cultural services is the key to ensure the high-quality development of public cultural services. This study proposes a shift in public cultural space governance based on scenario theory and uses a case analysis method to analyze the overall progress and characteristics of the 33 urban public cultural spaces that won the “2022 Most Beautiful Public Cultural Space Competition in the Yangtze River Delta and Domestic Provinces and Cities”. It constructs a governance framework for government purchasing of urban public cultural services. The governance of government purchasing of urban public cultural spaces requires clarifying the guiding role of government departments, activating the potential participation of social forces, harnessing the leading role of the people, and exploring the value of synergistic co-creation among the three entities. To further address the practical challenges in government purchasing of urban public cultural services, such as the imbalance in the development of entities, the lack of fairness, and the misalignment of supply and demand, future efforts should focus on optimizing through dimensions like balanced development of entities, equitable government purchasing, and precise matching of supply and demand.

  • Research on Governance Innovation of Rural Public Cultural Spaces in the Context of Government Purchasing

    Abstract: The resolution of governance dilemmas and innovative models for government-purchased rural public cultural spaces are crucial for promoting the high-quality development of rural public cultural services under the strategy of rural cultural revitalization. This study, based on the analysis of typical cases showcasing the progress of governance practices in 39 rural public cultural spaces from the “Most Beautiful Public Cultural Spaces Contest in the Yangtze River Delta and Domestic Cities in 2021”, puts forward the characteristics and future strategies of government purchasing for the governance practices of rural public cultural spaces. The research reveals that the features of government-purchased rural public cultural spaces are manifested in the intertwining of governance scene design and service representation in time and space. The mechanism for realizing spatial governance becomes the core discourse of policy practice, and the collaborative value creation of spatial governance subjects needs further improvement. The “responsible” governance innovation in rural public cultural space governance requires exploring the path of multi-subject collaborative governance, tapping into the driving mechanisms of cultural institutions participating in rural cultural space governance, and refining the standard guidelines and regulatory systems for rural public cultural spaces.

  • Research on the Children’s Graded Reading Promotion Based on SICAS Model

    Abstract: As an important part of the national reading promotion, children’s graded reading promotion has been highly concerned by government departments, cultural institutions, educational subjects and social organizations. Effectively carrying out children’s graded reading promotion is related to the future of our country and nation. It has theoretical basis and practical operability to use SICAS model to guide the children’s graded reading promotion. Based on discussing the necessity of using SICAS model to study the children’s graded reading promotion, this paper introduces the application framework for promoting children’s graded reading based on the SICAS model. Then from the perspective of this model, this paper sums up the current situation and good effects and analyses the existing problems and the countermeasures of the children’s graded reading promotion service. Firstly, build local brands and focus on accurate communication to optimize mutual perception. Secondly, enrich the reading content and innovate the promotion model to stimulate readers’ interest. Thirdly, ensure the development of the platform and the unimpeded two-way communication for enhancing deep interaction. Fourthly, strengthen scientific cooperation and expand the positive effects to promote the transformation of behavior. Finally, enhance immersion experience and promote active sharing to open communication channels.

  • The Challenges, Objectives and Action Framework for Service Innovation in Primary and Secondary School Libraries under the “Double Reduction” Policy

    Abstract: The “Double Reduction” policy, as a crucial decision in deepening the reform of the educational system, brings new challenges to the role of primary and secondary school libraries and provides new opportunities for innovative library services. This article, based on relevant policy documents and the current state of library development, examines the challenges faced by primary and secondary school libraries in terms of service concepts, service spaces, service methods and service content under the implementation of the “Double Reduction” policy. It also outlines the goals of enhancing students’ information literacy, serving teachers’ teaching needs and promoting the linkage between home, school and library. In the face of challenges and opportunities, the innovation of primary and secondary school library services is imperative. The article proposes a comprehensive action framework for service innovation in primary and secondary school libraries, covering two levels, four dimensions, and five supportive factors. It suggests exploring embedded teaching services, ubiquitous platform services, personalized dynamic services, and diversified collaborative services from four dimensions, namely, service subject, service time and space, service objects, and service methods. Simultaneously, it recommends providing support in terms of resources, systems, technology, talents, and evaluation to ensure the smooth implementation of service innovation.

  • Construction and Application of Multidimensional Intellectual Property Teaching Resources Based on Knowledge Graph

    Abstract: Multidimensional teaching resources for intellectual property are not only a vital support for the cultivation of compound and applied intellectual property talents, but also a new foundation for optimizing students’ knowledge structure and a new ecosystem that aids in enhancing students’ practical ability. The specific path to construct multidimensional intellectual property teaching resources based on a knowledge graph is to use tools like Neo4j and go through three stages: data collection and preprocessing, ontology construction and knowledge extraction, data modeling and knowledge storage. Thus, a knowledge network can be formed to reflect the intrinsic connections between textbooks, presentations, video courses, laws and regulations, judicial cases, test questions, and other teaching elements. The specific application of multidimensional teaching resources based on the knowledge graph of intellectual property courses is primarily demonstrated in updating and optimizing the talent development plan, providing more targeted guidance and personalized teaching, as well as enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of Q&A in intellectual property course teaching.

  • Research on the Influential Factors of Social Media Users’ Information Sharing Behavior from the Perspective of Information Ecology

    Abstract: Exploring the influential factors of social media users’ information sharing behavior is helpful in understanding the information sharing behavior of social media users and promoting the sustainable development of social media. Based on the information ecology perspective and the theory of planned behavior, this study constructs a model of factors influencing social media users’ information sharing behavior and validates the model’s effectiveness by questionnaire survey and structural equation model. The results show that the following factors affect users’ information sharing behavior: information person’s interest appeal and self-efficacy, information usefulness and usability, the interactive atmosphere and subjective norms of information environment, and information technical security which positively influences users’ willingness to share information. The dimension of information person, including people’s habit, and the dimension of information technology, including technical support and technical security, have a promoting effect on users’ information sharing behavior. The willingness to share information also has a significant impact on information sharing behavior.
