  • FastQSL: A Fast Computation Method for Quasi-separatrix Layers

    摘要: Magnetic reconnection preferentially takes place at the intersection of two separatrices or two quasi-separatrix layers, which can be quantified by the squashing factor Q, whose calculation is computationally expensive due to the need to trace as many field lines as possible. We developed a method (FastQSL) optimized for obtaining Q and the twist number in a 3D data cube. FastQSL utilizes the hardware acceleration of the graphic process unit (GPU) and adopts a step-size adaptive scheme for the most computationally intensive part: tracing magnetic field lines. As a result, it achieves a computational efficiency of 4.53 million Q values per second. FastQSL is open source, and user-friendly for data import, export, and visualization.

  • GRB 200612A: An Ultralong Gamma-Ray Burst Powered by Magnetar Spinning Down

    摘要: GRB 200612A could be classified as an ultralong gamma-ray burst due to its prompt emission lasting up to ∼1020 s and the true timescale of the central engine activity tburst ≥ 4 × 104 s. The late X-ray light curve with a decay index of α = 7.53 is steeper than the steepest possible decay from an external shock model. We propose that this X-ray afterglow can be driven by dipolar radiation from the magnetar spindown during its early stage, while the magnetar collapsed into the black hole before its spindown, resulting in a very steep decay of the late X-ray light curve. The optical data show that the light curve is still rising after 1.1 ks, suggesting a late onset. We show that GRB 200612A's optical afterglow light curve is fitted with the forward shock model by Gaussian structured off-axis jet. This is a special case among GRBs, as it may be an ultralong gamma-ray burst powered by a magnetar in an off-axis observation scenario.

  • Near-field energy transfer between graphene and magneto-optic media

    摘要: We consider the near-field radiative energy transfer between two separated parallel plates: graphene supported by a substrate and a magneto-optic medium. We first study the scenario in which the two plates have the same temperature. An electric current through the graphene gives rise to nonequilibrium fluctuations and induces energy transfer. Both the magnitude and direction of the energy flux can be controlled by the electric current and an in-plane magnetic field in the magneto-optic medium. This is due to the interplay between the nonreciprocal photon occupation number in the graphene and nonreciprocal surface modes in the magneto-optic plate. Furthermore, we report that a tunable thermoelectric current can be generated in the graphene in the presence of a temperature difference between the two plates.

  • An Update of the Catalog of Radial Velocity Standard Stars from the APOGEE DR17

    摘要: We present an updated catalog of 46,753 radial velocity (RV) standard stars selected from the APOGEE DR17. These stars cover the Northern and Southern Hemispheres almost evenly, with 62% being red giants and 38% being main sequence stars. These RV standard stars are stable on a baseline longer than 200 days (with 54% longer than one year and 10% longer than five years) with a median stability better than 215 m s−1. The average number of observations of those stars is 5 and each observation is required to have signal-to-noise ratio greater than 50 and RV measurement error smaller than 500 m s−1. Based on the new APOGEE RV standard star catalog, we have checked the RV zero-points (RVZPs) for current large-scale stellar spectroscopic surveys including RAVE, LAMOST, GALAH and Gaia. By careful analysis, we estimate their mean RVZP to be +0.149 km s−1, +4.574 km s−1 (for LRS), −0.031 km s−1 and +0.014 km s−1, respectively, for the four surveys. In the RAVE, LAMOST (for MRS), GALAH and Gaia surveys, RVZP exhibits a systematic trend with stellar parameters (mainly [Fe/H], Teff, log g, GBP − GRP and GRVS). The corrections to those small but clear RVZPs are of vital importance for these massive spectroscopic surveys in various studies that require extremely high RV accuracies.

  • Formation of Magnetic Flux Rope during Solar Eruption. I. Evolution of Toroidal Flux and Reconnection Flux

    摘要: Magnetic flux ropes (MFRs) constitute the core structure of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), but hot debates remain on whether the MFR forms before or during solar eruptions. Furthermore, how flare reconnection shapes the erupting MFR is still elusive in three dimensions. Here we studied a new MHD simulation of CME initiation by tether-cutting magnetic reconnection in a single magnetic arcade. The simulation follows the whole life, including the birth and subsequent evolution, of an MFR during eruption. In the early phase, the MFR is partially separated from its ambient field by a magnetic quasi-separatrix layer (QSL) that has a double-J shaped footprint on the bottom surface. With the ongoing of the reconnection, the arms of the two J-shaped footprints continually separate from each other, and the hooks of the J shaped footprints expand and eventually become closed almost at the eruption peak time, and thereafter the MFR is fully separated from the un-reconnected field by the QSL. We further studied the evolution of the toroidal flux in the MFR and compared it with that of the reconnected flux. Our simulation reproduced an evolution pattern of increase-to-decrease of the toroidal flux, which is reported recently in observations of variations in flare ribbons and transient coronal dimming. The increase of toroidal flux is owing to the flare reconnection in the early phase that transforms the sheared arcade to twisted field lines, while its decrease is a result of reconnection between field lines in the interior of the MFR in the later phase.

  • Characterizing Sub-Cycle Electron Dynamics of Polar Molecules by Asymmetry in Photoelectron Momentum Distributions

    摘要: Strong-field ionization of polar molecules contains rich dynamical processes such as tunneling, excitation, and Stark shift. These processes occur on a sub-cycle time scale and are difficult to distinguish in ultrafast measurements. Here, with a developed strong-field model considering effects of both Coulomb and permanent dipole, we show that photoelectron momentum distributions (PMDs) in orthogonal two-color laser fields can be utilized to resolve these processes with attosecond-scale resolution. A feature quantity related to the asymmetry in PMDs is obtained, with which the complex electron dynamics of polar molecules in each half laser cycle is characterized and the subtle time difference when electrons escaping from different sides of the polar molecule is identified.

  • FPGA-based position reconstruction method for neutron beam flux spatial distribution measurement in BNCT

    摘要: A new measurement method for the spatial distribution of neutron beam flux in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is being developed based on the two-dimensional Micromegas detector. To address the issue of long processing time in traditional offline position reconstruction methods, this paper proposes an FPGA-based online position reconstruction method, grounded in the micro time projection chamber principle. This method encapsulates key technical aspects: self-adaptive serial link technique built upon the dynamical adjustment of delay chain length, fast sorting and coordinate matching technique based on the mapping between signal timestamps and random access memory (RAM) addresses, and precise start point merging technique utilizing a circular combined RAM. The performance test of the self-adaptive serial link shows the bit error rate of the link is better than 10^-12 at a confidence level of 99%, ensuring reliable data transmission. The combined experiment of the readout electronics and the Micromegas detector shows a spatial resolution of approximately 1.4 mm, surpassing the current method's resolution level of 5 mm. The beam experiment confirms that the readout electronics system can obtain the flux spatial distribution of neutron beam online, thus validating the feasibility of the position reconstruction method. The online position reconstruction method avoids traditional methods such as bubble sorting and traversal searching, simplifying the design of logic firmware and reducing the time complexity from O(n^2) to O(n). This study contributes to the advancement in measuring neutron beam flux for BNCT.

  • A catalog of early-type H{\alpha} emission line stars and 58 newly confirmed Herbig Ae/Bes from LAMOST DR7

    摘要: We derive a catalog of early-type emission-line stars including 30,048 spectra of 25,886 stars from LAMOST DR7, in which 3,922 have Simbad records. The sample is obtained using K-Nearest Neighbor and Random Forest methods and visually inspected. The spectra are classified into 3 morphological types (10 subtypes) based on H$\alpha$ emission line profiles. Some spectra contaminated by nebula emission lines such as from HII regions are flagged in the catalog. We also provide a specific sub-catalog of 101 stars with the stellar wind by calculating stellar wind or accretion flow velocities based on P Cygni or inverse P Cygni profiles, in which 74\% of them having velocities below 400km/s. More important, with two color-color diagrams (H-K, K- W1) and (H-K, J-H) of a collection of known Herbig Ae/Be stars (HAeBes) and classical Ae/Be stars (CAeBes), we propose an updated criterion to separate HAeBes from CAeBes. By the criterion, we select 201 HAeBes candidates and 5,547 CAeBes candidates from the sample. We confirmed 66 of the 201 HAeBes by using both WISE images and LAMOST spectra and present a specific HAeBe sub-catalog, in which 58 are newly identified. In addition, the WISE colors (W1-W2, W1- W3, and W1-W4) show the distribution consistency between our confirmed HAeBes and that of the known HAeBes. Most of the 66 confirmed HAeBes locate in the lower edge of the main sequence of hot end in the HR diagram, while the distances of about 77\% exceed 1Kpc, which enlarges the number of far distant known HAeBes.

  • A Spectroscopic Modelling Method for the Detached Eclipsing Binaries to Derive Atmospheric Parameters

    摘要: Based on luminosity contributions, we develop a spectroscopic modelling method to derive atmospheric parameters of component stars in binary systems. The method is designed for those spectra of binaries which show double-lined features due to the radial velocities differences between the component stars. Furthermore, this method can also be applied to other spectroscopic data with different resolutions as long as the systems are detached eclipsing binaries with nearly spherical stars.

  • The Data Processing of the LAMOST Medium-Resolution Spectral Survey of Galactic Nebulae (LAMOST MRS-N Pipeline)

    摘要: The Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) medium-resolution spectral survey of Galactic Nebulae (MRS-N) has conducted for three years since Sep. 2018 and observed more than 190 thousands nebular spectra and 20 thousands stellar spectra. However, there is not yet a data processing pipeline for nebular data. To significantly improve the accuracy of nebulae classification and their physical parameters, we developed the MRS-N Pipeline. This article presented in detail each data processing step of the MRS-N Pipeline, such as removing cosmic rays, merging single exposure, fitting sky light emission lines, subtracting skylight, wavelength recalibration, measuring nebular parameters, creating catalogs and packing spectra. Finally, a description of the data products, including nebular spectra files and parameter catalogs, is provided.

  • Strong [OIII]{\lambda}5007 emission line compact galaxies in LAMOST DR9: Blueberries, Green Peas and Purple Grapes

    摘要: Green Pea and Blueberry galaxies are well-known for their compact size, low mass, strong emission lines and analogs to high-z Ly{\alpha} emitting galaxies. In this study, 1547 strong [OIII]{\lambda}5007 emission line compact galaxies with 1694 spectra are selected from LAMOST DR9 at the redshift range from 0.0 to 0.59. According to the redshift distribution, these samples can be separated into three groups: Blueberries, Green Peas and Purple Grapes. Optical [MgII]{\lambda}2800 line feature, BPT diagram, multi-wavelength SED fitting, MIR color, and MIR variability are deployed to identify 23 AGN candidates from these samples, which are excluded for the following SFR discussions. We perform the multi-wavelength SED fitting with GALEX UV and WISE MIR data. Color excess from Balmer decrement shows these strong [OIII]{\lambda}5007 emission line compact galaxies are not highly reddened. The stellar mass of the galaxies is obtained by fitting LAMOST calibrated spectra with the emission lines masked. We find that the SFR is increasing with the increase of redshift, while for the sources within the same redshift bin, the SFR increases with mass with a similar slope as the SFMS. These samples have a median metallicity of 12+log(O/H) of 8.10. The metallicity increases with mass, and all the sources are below the mass-metallicity relation. The direct-derived Te-based metallicity from the [OIII]{\lambda}4363 line agrees with the empirical N2-based empirical gas-phase metallicity. Moreover, these compact strong [OIII]{\lambda}5007 are mostly in a less dense environment.

  • Metal Mesh IR Filter for wSMA

    摘要: Since the start of full science operations from 2004, the Submillimeter Array has been implementing plans to expand IF bandwidths and upgrade receivers and cryostats. Metal mesh low-pass filters were designed to block infrared (IR) radiation to reduce the thermal load on the cryostats. Filters were fabricated on a quartz wafer through photolithography and coated with anti-reflection (AR) material. The filters were tested from 200 to 400 GHz to verify their passband performances. The measurement results were found to be in good agreement with EM simulation results. They were tested in the far-infrared (FIR) frequency range to verify out-of-band rejection. The IR reflectivity was found to be approximately 70%, which corresponded to the percentage of the area blocked by metal.

  • Study on Outliers in the Big Stellar Spectral Dataset of the Fifth Data Release (DR5) of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST)

    摘要: To study the quality of stellar spectra of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) and the correctness of the corresponding stellar parameters derived by the LASP (LAMOST Stellar Parameter Pipeline), the outlier analysis method is applied to the archived AFGK stars in the fifth data release (DR5) of LAMOST. The outlier factor is defined in order to sort more than 3 million stellar spectra selected from the DR5 Stellar Parameter catalog. We propose an improved Local Outlier Factor (LOF) method based on Principal Component Analysis and Monte Carlo to enable the computation of the LOF rankings for randomly picked sub-samples that are computed in parallel by multiple computers, and finally to obtain the outlier ranking of each spectrum in the entire dataset. Totally 3,627 most outlier ranked spectra, around one-thousandth of all spectra, are selected and clustered into 10 groups, and the parameter density distribution of them conforms to the parameter distribution of LAMOST DR5, which suggests that in the whole parameter space the probability of bad spectra is uniformly distributed. By cross-matching the 3,627 spectra with APOGEE, we obtain 122 common ones. The published parameters calculated from LASP agree with APOGEE for the 122 spectra although there are bad pixels or bad flux calibrations in them. On the other hand, some outlier spectra show strong nebular contamination warning the corresponding parameters should be carefully used.   • LAMOST MRS-N Observations of the W80 Region

    摘要: The spectral observations and analysis for the W80 Region are presented by using the data of Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey of Nebulae (MRS-N) with the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopy Telescope (LAMOST). A total of 2982 high-quality nebular spectra have been obtained in the 20 square degree field of view (FoV) which covers the W80 complex, and the largest sample of spectral data have been established for the first time. The relative intensities, radial velocities (RVs), and Full Widths at Half Maximum (FWHMs) are measured with the high spectral resolution of LAMOST MRS, for H$\alpha$ $\lambda$ 6563 \AA, [\ion{N}{ii}] $\lambda$$\lambda$ 6548 \AA, 6584 \AA \ , and [\ion{S}{ii}] $\lambda$$\lambda$ 6716 \AA, 6731 \AA \ emission lines. In the field of view of whole W80 Region, the strongest line emissions are found to be consistent with the bright nebulae, NGC 7000, IC 5070, and LBN 391, and weak line emissions also truly exist in the Middle Region, where no bright nebulae are detected by the wide-band optical observations. The large-scale spectral observations to the W80 Region reveal the systematic spatial variations of RVs and FWHMs, and several unique structural features. A 'curved feature' to the east of the NGC 7000, and a 'jet feature' to the west of the LBN 391 are detected to be showing with larger radial velocities. A 'wider FWHM region' is identified in the eastern part of the NGC 7000. The variations of [\ion{S}{ii}] / H${\alpha}$ ratios display a gradient from southwest to northeast in the NGC 7000 region, and manifest a ring shape around the 'W80 bubble' ionized by an O-type star in the L935. Further spectral and multi-band observations are guaranteed to investigate in detail the structural features.
