摘要: Magnetic reconnection is prevalent in magnetized plasmas in space and laboratories. Despite significant investigations on reconnection in electron-ion plasmas, studies of reconnection in magnetized plasmas with negatively charged dust grains are quite sparse. Here we report the first fully kinetic simulations of collisionless reconnection in a three-species (i.e., electron, proton, and negatively charged dust grain) dusty plasma, through which the discovery of double Hall pattern is made. The double Hall pattern consists of a traditional Hall quadruple current in between the ion and electron diffusion region, and a reversed Hall current in between the boundary of the ion and dust diffusion region. The analysis of the reconnection rate is also given. This study may be applicable to explain observations of planetary magnetospheres and the astrophysical objects, and may be realized in the laboratory studies of dusty plasmas.

摘要: Collisionless magnetic reconnection typically requires kinetic treatments that are, in general, computationally expensive compared to fluid-based models. In this study, we use the magnetohydrodynamics with adaptively embedded particle-in-cell (MHD-AEPIC) model to study the interaction of two magnetic flux ropes. This innovative model embeds one or more adaptive PIC regions into a global MHD simulation domain such that the kinetic treatment is only applied in regions where kinetic physics is prominent. We compare the simulation results among three cases: 1) MHD with adaptively embedded PIC regions, 2) MHD with statically (or fixed) embedded PIC regions, and 3) a full PIC simulation. The comparison yields good agreement when analyzing their reconnection rates and magnetic island separations, as well as the ion pressure tensor elements and ion agyrotropy. In order to reach a good agreement among the three cases, large adaptive PIC regions are needed within the MHD domain, which indicates that the magnetic island coalescence problem is highly kinetic in nature where the coupling between the macro-scale MHD and micro-scale kinetic physics is important.

摘要: Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence regulates the transfer of energy from large to small scales in many astrophysical systems, including the solar atmosphere. We perform three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations with unprecedentedly large magnetic Reynolds number to reveal how rapid reconnection of magnetic field lines changes the classical paradigm of the turbulent energy cascade. By breaking elongated current sheets into chains of small magnetic flux ropes (or plasmoids), magnetic reconnection leads to a new range of turbulent energy cascade, where the rate of energy transfer is controlled by the growth rate of the plasmoids. As a consequence, the turbulent energy spectra steepen and attain a spectral index of -2.2 that is accompanied by changes in the anisotropy of turbulence eddies. The omnipresence of plasmoids and their consequences on, e.g., solar coronal heating, can be further explored with current and future spacecraft and telescopes.

摘要: Deriving governing equations of complex physical systems based on first principles can be quite challenging when there are certain unknown terms and hidden physical mechanisms in the systems. In this work, we apply a deep learning architecture to learn fluid partial differential equations (PDEs) of a plasma system based on the data acquired from a fully kinetic model. The learned multi-moment fluid PDEs are demonstrated to incorporate kinetic effects such as Landau damping. Based on the learned fluid closure, the data-driven, multi-moment fluid modeling can well reproduce all the physical quantities derived from the fully kinetic model. The calculated damping rate of Landau damping is consistent with both the fully kinetic simulation and the linear theory. The data-driven fluid modeling of PDEs for complex physical systems may be applied to improve fluid closure and reduce the computational cost of multi-scale modeling of global systems.

摘要: Based on high resolution, high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio spectra from Keck/HIRES, we have determined abundances of 20 elements for 18 Ba candidates. The parameter space of these stars are in the range of 4880 $\leq$ $\rm{T_{eff}}$ $\leq$ 6050 K, 2.56 $\leq$ log $g$ $\leq$ 4.53 dex and -0.27 $\leq$ [Fe/H] $\leq$ 0.09 dex. It is found that four of them can be identified as Ba stars with [s/Fe] $>$ 0.25 dex (s: Sr, Y, Zr, Ba, La, Ce and Nd), and three of them are newly discovered, which includes two Ba giants (HD 16178 and HD 22233) and one Ba subgiant (HD 2946). Our results show that the abundances of $\alpha$, odd and iron-peak elements (O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sc, Ti, Mn, Ni and Cu) for our program stars are similar to those of the thin disk, while the distribution of [hs/ls] (hs: Ba, La, Ce and Nd, ls: Sr, Y and Zr) ratios of our Ba stars is similar to those of the known Ba objects. None of the four Ba stars show clear enhancement in carbon including the known CH subgiant HD 4395. It is found that three of the Ba stars present clear evidences of hosting stellar or sub-stellar companions from the radial velocity data.

摘要: Cloud cover plays a pivotal role in assessing observational conditions for astronomical site-testing. Except for the fraction of observing time, its fragmentation also wields a significant influence on the quality of nighttime sky clarity. In this article, we introduce the function , designed to comprehensively capture both the fraction of available observing time and its continuity. Leveraging in situ measurement data gathered at the Muztagh-Ata site between 2017 and 2021, we showcase the effectiveness of our approach. The statistical result illustrates that the Muztagh-Ata site affords approximately 122 nights that were absolutely clear and 205 very good nights annually, corresponding to Γ ≥ 0.9 and Γ ≥ 0.36 respectively.

摘要: Based on J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, with corresponding Monte Carlo samples, the tracking efficiency and its systematic uncertainty are studied using a control sample of J/ψ→pp¯¯¯π+π−. Validation methods and different factors influencing the tracking efficiency are presented in detail. The tracking efficiency and its systematic uncertainty for protons and pions with the transverse momentum and polar angle dependence are also discussed.

摘要: We report the confirmation of a sub-Saturn-size exoplanet, TOI-1194 b, with a mass of about MJ, and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about 96.5 ± 1.5 MJ, TOI-1251 B. Exoplanet candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium apertures. The analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide, including telescopes in the Sino-German multiband photometric campaign, which aimed at confirming TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs) using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes, especially for long-period targets. TOI-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transit depths from the multiband photometric data. We measure an orbital period of 2.310644 ± 0.000001 days, the radius is RJ and the amplitude of the RV curve is m s−1. TOI-1251 B is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data, whose orbital period is days, radius is RJ and amplitude of the RV curve is m s−1.

摘要: Fermi-LAT LCR provides continuous and regularly sampled gamma-ray light curves, spanning about 14 yr, for a large sample of blazars. The log-normal flux distribution and linear rms–flux relation of the light curves for a few Fermi blazars have been examined in previous studies. However, the probability that blazars exhibit the log-normal flux distribution and linear rms–flux relation in their gamma-ray light curves has not been systematically explored. In this study, we comprehensively research the distribution of γ-ray flux and the statistical characteristics on a large sample of 1414 variable blazars from the Fermi-LAT LCR catalog, including 572 FSRQs, 477 BL Lacs, and 365 BCUs, and statistically compare their flux distributions with normal and log-normal distributions. The results indicate that the probability of not rejecting log-normal is 42.05% for the large sample, and there is still a 2.05% probability of not rejecting normality, based on the joint of Kolmogorov–Smirnov, Shapiro–Wilk, and Normality tests. We further find that the probability that BL Lacs conform to the log-normal distribution is higher than that of FSRQs. Besides, after removing sources with less than 200 data points from this large sample, a sample of 549 blazars, which is still a large sample compared to the previous studies, was obtained. Based on dividing the light curves into segments every 20 points (or 40 points, or one year), we fitted the linear rms–flux relation of these three different sets and found that the Pearson correlation coefficients are all close to 1 for most blazars. This result indicates a strong linear correlation between the rms and the flux of these 549 blazars. The log-normal distribution and linear rms–flux relation indicate that the variability of the γ-ray flux for most blazars is a non-linear and multiplicative process.

摘要: The 28nm process has a high cost-performance ratio and has gradually become the standard for the fieldof radiation-hardened devices. However, owing to the minimum physical gate length of only 35nm, the physicalarea of a standard 6T SRAM unit is approximately 0.16 μm2, resulting in a significant enhancement ofmulti-cell charge-sharing effects. Multiple-cell upsets (MCUs) have become the primary physical mechanismbehind single-event upsets (SEUs) in advanced nanometer node devices. The range of ionization track effectsincreases with higher ion energies, and spacecraft in orbit primarily experience SEUs caused by high-energyions. However, ground accelerator experiments have mainly obtained low-energy ion irradiation data. Therefore,the impact of ion energy on the SEU cross-section, charge collection mechanisms, and MCU patterns andquantities in advanced nanometer devices remains unclear. In this study, based on the experimental platformof the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL), low- and high-energy heavy-ion beams were usedto study the SEUs of 28nm SRAM devices. The influence of ion energy on the charge collection processesof small-sensitive-volume devices, MCU patterns, and upset cross-sections was obtained, and the applicablerange of the inverse-cosine law was clarified. The findings of this study are an important guide for the accurateevaluation of SEUs in advanced nanometer devices and for the development of radiation-hardening techniques.

摘要: The relative differences in coordinates of Cylindrical-Gas-Electron-Multiplier-Detector-based Inner Tracker (CGEM-IT) clusters are studied to search for track segments in CGEM-IT. With the full simulation of single muon track samples, clear patterns are found and parameterized for the correct cluster combinations. The cluster combinations satisfying the patterns are selected as track segment candidates in CGEM-IT with an efficiency higher than 99%. The parameters of the track segments are obtained by a helix fitting. Some chi-squared quantities, evaluating the differences in track parameters between the track segments in CGEM-IT and the tracks found in Outer-Drift-Chamber (ODC), are calculated and used to match them. Proper chi-squared requirements are determined as a function of transverse momentum and the matching efficiency is found reasonable.

摘要: KIC 10417986 is a short orbital period (0.0737 d) ellipsoidal variable star with a {\delta} Scuti and {\gamma} Doradus hybrid pulsations component discovered by Kepler. The ground-based spectroscopic observations were carried out in the winters of 2020 and 2021 to investigate the binary nature of this star. We derive the orbital parameters using the rvfit code with a result of K1 = 29.7 $\pm$ 1.5 km/s, {\gamma} = -18.7 $\pm$ 1.7 km/s, and confirm an orbital period of 0.84495 d instead of the result given by Kepler. The atmospheric parameters of the primary are determined by the synthetic spectra fitting technique with the estimated values of Teff = 7411 $\pm$ 187 K, log g = 4.2 $\pm$ 0.3 dex, [M/H] = 0.08 $\pm$ 0.09 dex and vsini = 52 $\pm$ 11 km/s. KIC 10417986 is a circular orbit binary system. From the single-lined nature and mass function of the star, the derived orbital inclination is 26 $\pm$ 6{\deg}, and the mass of the secondary is from 0.43 to 0.7 M_sun, which should be a late-K to early-M type star. Fourteen frequencies are extracted from Kepler light curves, of which six independent frequencies in the high-frequency region are identified as the p-mode pulsations of {\delta} Scuti star, and one independent frequency in the low-frequency region (f2 = 1.3033 c/d) is probably the rotational frequency due to the starspots rather than the ellipsoidal effect or g-mode of {\gamma} Doradus.

摘要: The quality of PMT signal is one of the key items for a large and high precision neutrino experiment, like Daya Bay, JUNO, while most of the experiments are affected by the PMT signal overshoot from its positive HV-single cable scheme. For JUNO prototype detector, we have a detailed study on the PMT overshoot and successfully reduced the ratio of overshoot amplitude to signal to ~1% from previous typical ~10%, with no affection to PMT other parameters. Furthermore, we calculated that the overshoot is a result of discharging of capacitors in the HV-signal splitter and the PMT voltage divider. The study result is extremely important for JUNO and other similar experiments.

摘要: We report a single-lined white dwarf-main sequence binary system, LAMOST J172900.17+652952.8, which is discovered by LAMOST's medium resolution time-domain surveys. The radial velocity semi-amplitude and orbital period of the optical visible star are measured by using the Palomar 200-inch telescope follow-up observations and the light curves from TESS. Thus the mass function of the invisible candidate white dwarf is derived, $f(M_{\rm{2}}) = 0.120\,\pm\,0.003\,M_{\odot}$. The mass of the visible star is measured based on the spectral energy distribution fitting, $M_{\mathrm{1}}$ = $0.81^{+0.07}_{-0.06}\,M_{\odot}$. Hence, the mass of its invisible companion is $M_{\rm{2}}\,\gtrsim\,0.63\,M_{\odot}$. The companion ought to be a compact object rather than a main-sequence star owing to the mass ratio $q = M_{\rm{2}} / M_{\rm 1} \gtrsim 0.78$ and the single-lined spectra. The compact object is likely to be a white dwarf except for small inclination angle, $i\,\lesssim\,40^{\circ}$. By using the GALEX NUV flux, the effective temperature of the white dwarf candidate is constrained as $T_{\rm eff}^{\rm WD}\,\lesssim\,12000-13500$ K. It is difficult to detect white dwarfs which are outshone by their bright companions via single-epoch optical spectroscopic surveys. Therefore, the optical time-domain surveys can play an important role in unveiling invisible white dwarfs and other compact objects in binaries.

摘要: The Transition Edge Sensor is extremely sensitive to the change of temperature, combined with the high-Z metal of a certain thickness, it can realize the high energy resolution measurement of particles such as X-rays. X-rays with energies below 10 keV have very weak penetrating ability, so only a few microns thick of gold or bismuth can obtain quantum efficiency higher than 70\%. Therefore, the entire structure of the TES X-ray detector in this energy range can be realized in the microfabrication process. However, for X-rays or gamma rays from 10 keV to 200 keV, sub-millimeter absorber layers are required, which cannot be realized by microfabrication process. This paper first briefly introduces a set of TES X-ray detectors and their auxiliary systems built by ShanghaiTech University, then focus on the introduction of the TES $\gamma$-ray detector, with absorber based on an sub-millimeter lead-tin alloy sphere. The detector has a quantum efficiency above 70\% near 100 keV, and an energy resolution of about 161.5eV@59.5keV.
