Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-08-27 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Collaborative information seeking and retrieval is essentially a knowledge sharing process, describe its dynamic evolution process is the core issues of research.[Method/process] Epk is a potential discriminant function. In this paper, we took knowledge stock, knowledge structure and knowledge quality as variables, and constructed Epk to depict the participants' ability of knowledge sharing in the collaborative information seeking and retrieval; Then, we divided the collaborative group into two subgroups, which took Epk=50 as high and low potential threshold. We also discussed the influence factors of collaborative information seeking and retrieval from the following three aspects:collaborative participants' own factors and mutual influences, and influences of environment. Moreover, based on the above influence factors and game theory, we constructed a evolutionary game model of knowledge sharing in collaborative information seeking and retrieval. Finally, with the 2014 edition Matlab, we wrote the simulation programs, and performed multiple iterative simulations for evolutionary game model based on the given initial parameters.[Result/conclusion] The result shows that:the groups' strategies gradually tends to be stable after repeated game; the abilities of shared/learning knowledge and the ties in participants have positive impacts for knowledge sharing, and cost factors have negative effects for knowledge sharing; evolution game model converges to (1, 1), namely the high potential participants choose knowledge sharing strategies and low potential participants choose learning strategies; through continuous knowledge sharing and learning in collaborative process, participants' knowledge structure will be improved to different degrees, especially the improvement of knowledge supplier is particularly significant.

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-08-26 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] In this paper, the deductive analysis has been used to explore the mechanism of uncitedness, which is different from other studies where the statistical analysis is used to describe and interpret the uncitedness. [Method/process] Under the grand background of the scientific communication, the competition-selection mechanism was given to interpret the uncitedness. This was a procedure of the relevant judgment and selection related to document contents and was influenced greatly by its external characteristics at the same time. Some analysis was given in the time and space dimension based on the competition-selection mechanism. [Result/conclusion] In terms of the time evolution dimension, the competition between old and new literatures are the main cause of the uncitedness; in terms of the time section, the competition among homogeneous literatures is an important reason of the uncitedness, which is related to the literature searching, the document reference and the expression of new potential related information in the problem-solving iterative processes. The citation selection is a spontaneous self-organized process based on the competitive context.

  • Generation Motivation of Altmetrics Data and its Availability to Evaluate Chinese Academic Books:A Case Study of “Short Comments” on Douban Reading Platform

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper discusses the users' motivation to publish short reviews on the Douban Reading platform, and tries to judge whether the short reviews are effective as indicators to evaluate the influence of books, so as to get inspiration for the indicator construction for Altmetrics to assess Chinese academic books.[Method/process] Taking the top 10 cited books of ancient Chinese academic ones published in the CBKCI statistical report as samples, this paper used the grounded theory to analyze the 1,142 "short comments" of the sample books on Douban Reading website, and explored the motivation of the short comments and its availability to assess the social influences of academic books.[Result/conclusion] 6 main motivation for users to generate short reviews are identified, such as discussion, sharing entertainment, external pressure, emotional venting, and data acquisition. Among them, the "discussion" motivationis is the main one and its two sub-motivations "expressing personal experiences or ideas related to books" and "expressing opinions or personal explanations on books" account for more than 40% of all short review data. It indicates that most users do not only just copy a certain sentence or a certain chapter of a book, but try to find and spread the most valuable information of the book. Such short-review data can be used to evaluate Chinese academic books. Others motivation, such as "share", "recreational entertainment", "outside pressure", "emotional vent", and "data acquisition", are relatively difficult to reflect well users' attitude and cognition about the books, and these data should not be included in the Altmetrics index to evaluate Chinese academic books.
