• Decreasing unethical behavior by using mindfulness: A study based on the dual-system theory of ethical decision-making

Subjects: Psychology >> Management Psychology submitted time 2023-05-30

Abstract: Workplace unethical behavior is extremely harmful to organizations; therefore, the exploration of intervention methods for unethical behavior is of great significance with regard to management practices. Previous studies have mainly explored the intervention methods used to address unethical behavior from the perspective of rational ethical decision-making, and few studies have explored those intervention methods from the perspective of intuitive ethical decision-making. This project proposes that mindfulness can influence both the rational ethical decision-making system and the intuitive ethical decision-making system, thereby reducing unethical behavior. This project attempts to investigate the impact of mindfulness on unethical behavior from the perspective of the dual-system theory of ethical decision-making, thereby contributing to interdisciplinary explorations of mindfulness and behavioral ethics. In terms of practical implications, this project identifies mindfulness as an important factor that influences both the rational and the intuitive ethical decision-making systems, a finding which has implications for intervening in unethical behavior in the context of management practices.

  • The power of circulation—The impact of reciprocal relationship on consumer behavior

Subjects: Psychology >> Social Psychology submitted time 2022-12-15

    Abstract:

Reciprocity reflects the resource circulation between “giving” and “reciprocating”, which widely affects the consumption field in various forms. However, the relationship between reciprocity and consumer behavior has not been systematically reviewed. By reviewing related literature in marketing, a framework for consumers' behavioral responses to reciprocal relationships was built. From three perspectives of reciprocal exchange, equivalence principle and moral norm, the framework shows that reciprocal relations can affect the subject, nature and level of consumer behavior. It further explores the underlying mechanism of (un)conscious decision-making, result-/deontology-orientation, equal exchange, and summarized social and individual factors moderating the relationship between reciprocity and consumer behavior. Finally, it offers directions for future research from the perspective of reciprocal antecedents, integrated consumer behavior, boundary conditions and mechanism differences of reciprocal subjects.

  • 组织中绩效压力的双刃剑效应

Subjects: Management Science >> Development and Management of Human Resources submitted time 2022-06-08

    Abstract:

The complexity of the market economy has brought about many challenges to organizational survival and development. As organizations often demand high performance from employees, experiencing workplace performance pressure has become a prevalent phenomenon. Existing research has mostly focused on the negative effects of performance pressure and is limited in knowledge about performance pressure’s positive influences and theoretical lens. A systematic and comprehensive understanding of the double-edged-sword effect of performance pressure is conducive to organizations taking advantage of performance pressure’s positive impacts and ameliorating its negative influences. By systematically reviewing and summarizing relevant literature, this paper categorizes the effects of performance pressure into positive, negative, and curvilinear effects and suggests theories, such as cognitive appraisal theory of stress and conservation of resources theory, to explicate the underlying mechanisms. Last, based on the above analysis, future research should enhance knowledge about performance pressure’s double-edged-sword effect in organizational contexts and consider its boundary conditions to more comprehensively understand its influences in organizational contexts.

  • The theory and application of the Emotions as Social Information (EASI) Model

Subjects: Psychology >> Applied Psychology submitted time 2021-08-06

Abstract: The Emotions as Social Information (EASI) model posits that emotional expressions exert interpersonal effects by triggering affective reactions and/or inferential processes in observers, depending on the observer’s information processing and the perceived appropriateness of the emotional expression. This paper discriminates EASI model and related theories, reviews the application of EASI model in the fields of leadership, team, customer service, negotiation and persuasion, summarizes the factors influencing the boundary conditions of EASI model—the degree of information processing and perceived appropriateness based on the analysis of 63 empirical studies using EASI model. Future research should strengthen systematic theoretical verification, enhance the integration with other theories, extend application context and improve measurement methods.

  • 组织行为学中的时间相关研究与未来方向

Subjects: Psychology >> Other Disciplines of Psychology submitted time 2020-11-06

  • The unidimensional basic psychological need satisfactions from the additive, synergistic and balanced perspectives

Subjects: Psychology >> Social Psychology submitted time 2020-07-31

Abstract: Studying basic psychological needs in a unidimensional way supplements the general framework of need satisfaction research by exploring the uniqueness of each need satisfaction (i.e., autonomy, relatedness, or competence satisfaction). This article reviews the theoretical basis of the psychological mechanisms (the intrinsic motivation and the internalization of extrinsic motivation) and the research status quo of the need satisfaction successively from three unidimensional perspectives, i.e., the additive, synergistic and balanced perspectives. Notably, inspired by the three perspectives, the article provides insights for the “limited interchangeability” of each need satisfaction’s influence on individuals’ psychological functioning. Future studies may keep digging the need satisfactions from the three unidimensional perspectives, and explore the compensatory association among the three need satisfactions, the neurological basis of each need satisfaction, and the basic psychological need frustrations in a unidimensional way.

Abstract: With further economic globalization and fast development of global companies, more firms have teams with diversified cultural backgrounds. Managers expect employees with different cultural backgrounds to contribute their experience, ideas and perspectives to team innovation. Thus, both the academia and the industry are paying great attention on how team cultural diversity would impact team innovation. In this research, based on the “categorization-elaboration” theory perspective, we further clarify the theoretical framework of team cultural diversity, examine the impact of team cultural diversity on team innovation, its underlying mechanism and the boundary conditions from the teams’ internal and external factors respectively. In practice, this study provides companies with guidelines to effectively manage teams with diversified cultures and promote innovation. "
