Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper aims to divide the development course of university library reading promotion mode, analyze the changes of the constituent elements of the mode under each stage, and point out the future development trend of the mode.[Method/process] The 5W Communication Theory and literature analysis methods provide the basis for the definition of the mode and the analysis of its constituent elements. The processing results of Citespace visualization tools, the changes of reading promotion media, and the changes of readers' reading habits provide the basis for the division of development stages.[Result/conclusion] The university library reading promotion mode is formed by the elements that are arranged and combined under a specific time and space. Its development is divided into five stages:attending library readers oriented traditional paper reading promotion mode stage, network users oriented digital reading promotion mode stage, general users oriented e-reader lending service promotion mode stage, mobile phone users oriented and interactive micro-platform based reading promotion mode stage and new era readers oriented three-dimensional reading promotion stage. Professionalization of promotion subject, gamification of promotion form, socialization of promotion target, fragmentation of promotion content and diversification of the effect evaluation are mode development trends.

  • Framework for Explanations of Patent Citation Formation: An Exponential Random Graph Model Perspective

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-07-26 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Although there have been efforts of scholars to answer the question, what’s determinants of patent citation formation are not solved satisfactorily. Scholars find formation of patent citation is influenced by the structure characteristics of patent citation network. However, the current framework of statistical inference methods based on logistical regression is failing to incorporate the above factors, so an innovative method need to be introduced. [Method/process] From a tie formation perspective, patent citation formation represents three broad category of tie formation processes: attribute-based processes, self-organizing network processes and covariates processes. Furthermore, based on these processes, the paper establishes a mapping relationship between those processes with particular types of configurations. Finally, a framework is proposed for understanding the complexity of patent citation formation. [Result/conclusion] The paper introduces a framework for understanding patent citation formation, which lays the groundwork for statistical network modeling in the future. In addition, broadly network configuration selection from the framework offers significant opportunities to extend existing bibliometrics and open new pathways in complexity of scientific network analysis.

  • From ISO5127: 2001 to ISO5127: 2017: Research on International Terminology Standards in the Context of Digital Transformation

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Terminology standards are the basic standards in the field of information and documentation. Exploring the corresponding changes in the digital context can provide directive guidance for the development and transformation of the field of information and documentation.[Method/process] By introducing the background of the revision of the standard, the comparative research method, conceptual analysis method and subject analysis method were used to compare and analyze the frame structure, the format and content of the terms between the terminology standards of ISO5127:2001 and ISO5127:2017.[Result/conclusion] The application of computer and Internet technologies has caused unprecedented changes in the field of information and documentation. The new version of the standard has expanded the new terminology of production, storage, conservation, retrieval, dissemination and research within the context of digital transformation, reflecting the development of information and documentation.

  • Identification of Scientific Data Quality Evaluation Indicators from the Perspective of Data Journals Peer Review

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] From the perspective of peer review on data journals, this paper identifies and puts forward scientific data quality evaluation indicators to improve the understanding of scientific data quality evaluation and provide a reference for the practice of peer review of data papers.[Method/process] Data review guidelines for 20 data journals were selected as source material for qualitative research. This paper used grounded theory and qualitative analysis software NVivo to openly encode, correlate and selectively encode the data, and finally tested the encoding results through the theoretical saturation test.[Result/conclusion] Finally, in the context of peer review of data papers, a scientific data quality evaluation index system was established, including four categories of data internal quality, data expression quality, data access quality, and data utility quality and 14 evaluation indicators. Then this article analyzed the specific meaning and classification of the indicators in detail to help the authors and reviewers of data papers understand the internal structure of scientific data quality.

  • Research on Difficulty Measurement Method in Academic Search Based on Log Mining

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Users often faced different levels of information searching difficulties in search. In order to better understand user needs and improve the retrieval system, a concise and effective method was needed to measure the difficulty of searching for information.[Method/process] This study took the cost of effort on time and behavior for queries as manifestation of users' information seeking difficulty. The session type was divided according to the user's behavior pattern in the session, the session type with the least cost and the query requirement was satisfied as the comparison baseline, and the cost of the baseline session was used to measure the difficulty of other session types. In order to optimize the expression model of the cost, the correlation test of the behavioral indicators of the search cost was carried out, and the behavioral characteristics with good independence and discrimination were selected by factor analysis for modeling. Using National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) logs and Sogou logs as data sets to compare the difficulty faced by users in both academic search and general search environments, as well as during the exploration process represented by and different session types.[Result/conclusion] In the two search systems measured in this paper, the information search difficulty faced by users is 2.30 and 1.57 respectively, and the difficulty in academic search is higher than that in general search. In the two sessions that embodied the process of academic exploration, the difficulty levels were 2.35 and 4.13 respectively. The method proposed in this paper can use simple numerical values to summarize the search difficulties with multiple influencing factors, and can be used in different types of sessions and search environments, enriching the evaluation methods of the retrieval system.
