Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the current status of foreign research on reading services in the information technology environment in recent three years and provide reference for the research and development of this field in China.[Method/process] In this paper, the relevant research results of foreign countries since 2017 have been retrieved and relevant research literature has been analyzed on the WoS platform. This paper summarized the related research results from the research themes and research methods, and extracted the advantages and characteristics of foreign research, finally formed the enlightenment for domestic related research.[Result/conclusion] The distribution of the existing information technology in the literature shows that the research on digital and mobile reading services is still a hot research direction abroad. In terms of users, the most relevant researches are conducted on students in K12 education stage. From the perspective of research topics, the number of researches on user behavior is the largest. In terms of research methods, the combination of foreign research preference experiment method with one or more of the questionnaire method, interview method and observation method. The research methods are suitable for the corresponding research problems. In the future, domestic research needs to pay continuous attention to the new generation of information technology and its application, continue to deepen the research on user behavior, and reasonably select the corresponding research methods according to the research problems.

  • Relationships Between Note-Taking Behavior and Learning Outcome in Learning-Related Search

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Information search is not only a process of information acquisition, but also a process of users’ self-learning. In the context of learning-related search, this paper explores the influence of the note-taking behavior on learning outcome in the process of searching, the characteristics of users’ note-taking behavior and the influence of the search context on note-taking behavior. [Method/Process] This paper collected data by the experiment method, analyzed the characteristics of note-taking by coding analysis, descriptive statistics and cluster analysis, and analyzed the association of note-taking with search context and learning outcome by difference test. [Result/Conclusion] This paper found three types of note-taking patterns: "rough collection-linear structure", "fine collection-linear structure" and "free structure". Users with more prior knowledge tend to adopt the pattern of "rough collection, linear structure", which may lead to poorer learning efficiency. The results are helpful to enrich the limited exploration of information use behavior in relevant researches on "search as learning" and inspire various information search systems to design and optimize functions from the perspective of supporting users' self-learning.
