  • Progress of Library and Information Science and Archival Science During the 13th Five-year Plan: Analysis on National Social Science Fund Program

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The national science fund programs are the main body of the funded projects in the humanities and social sciences in China. Therefore, the analysis of the fund programs during the 13th Five-Year Plan period is helpful to master the development of the subject of library, information and philology (including archival science) in the past five years. [Method/process] Based on fund program establishment, this paper summarized the development and changes of Library and Information Science during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, doing visual analysis of the project establishment number, project area distribution, outstanding achievements number, awards number, and research theme distribution of fund projects. [Result/conclusion] This paper finds that the number and quality of projects are steadily improving, and the number of projects awarded has increased compared with the "11th Five-Year Plan" and "12th Five-year Plan". The research hotspots of fund program mainly reflect the combination of traditional research fields and information technology, including digital library, intelligent service, digital construction, social media and Internet information technology, and the research on the digital humanities of archival science, the arrangement and utilization of ancient books and documents. The research trend of the fund programs is reflected in the close combination of Library and Information Science, digitalization and intelligence. Under the background of knowledge fusion, the research of health care and medical information reflects the integration of Library and Information Science and medical field.

  • Research on the Formation Mechanism and the Evaluation Framework of Scholars' Academic Discourse Power

    Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] The gradual improvement of scholars’ academic discourse power is a process of academic prosperity. The study of scholars’ academic discourse power and its evaluation theory methods has become an urgent need for the construction of the Chinese academic discourse system. [Method/Process] Based on the theory of discourse power, the life cycle theory of scientific research activities, and the theory of communication, according to the concept of "element-relation-process", this paper explored the elements and the relationship among the elements in academic activities, and analyzed, identified and quantitatively evaluated the role of scholars in the formation of academic discourse power. [Result/Conclusion] Based on analyzing the constituent elements of scholars’ academic discourse power, the formation mechanism of scholars’ academic discourse power is explored, and a three-dimensional theoretical framework for the evaluation of scholars' academic discourse power is constructed, which includes leading power, communication power, and influence power is constructed.

  • Research on Academic Discourse Power and Its Evaluation

    Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Academic discourse power is a carrier of national spirit and culture, and an important embodiment of national soft power. The research on the connotation, the formation mechanism, constituent elements and evaluation of academic discourse power, which is of great significance to improve the national soft power and carry forward the national spirit and culture. [Method/Process] This paper analyzed the mechanism of academic discourse power based on Foucault’s discourse power theory and Lasswell’s 5W communication theory, and focused on the connotation, formation process, constituent elements and the evaluation of academic discourse power. [Result/Conclusion] This paper holds that the components of academic discourse power are the subjects, carriers, the communication media, objects and the implementation effect of academic discourse power.According to the informetrics and scientific evaluation theory, this study constructs an evaluation index system of academic discourse power of scientific research institutions.

  • Visualization Analysis of Discourse Power Research:Traceability, Review and Evolution

    Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] In the current environment of complex international relations, discourse power is regarded as an important symbol of a country’s soft power. Combing the development of discourse power research is helpful to explore the internal logic of evolution, reveal its theme structure, summarize the evolution trajectory and guide positive development. [Method/Process] Aiming at the measurement deviation existing in the process of data mining, this paper designed the comprehensive retrieval strategy of discourse power research, analyzed the origin of the research literatures by using bibliometrics and visual analysis method, and explored the annual change of the research field of discourse power. The annual change of the optimal theme after cross validation was superimposed on the biclustering map. The discipline diffusion context of discourse power research was explored from the citation domain and the cited domain, the evolution context of research topics in different stages was analyzed, and then the evolution trend of discourse power research was revealed. [Result/Conclusion] The research on discourse power can be traced back to the achievements of Foucault’s knowledge archaeology. The research can be integrated into five knowledge domains such as linguistics, politics and sociology. The evolution of overall knowledge has changed from the traditional research topics to the refinement, interdisciplinary, and cross-country cooperation of emerging topics. The evolution path is relatively stable and has obvious national leading effect and policy guiding effect.
