  • Research on the Mechanism Model of Journal Preprint Policy: Based on Grounded Theory

    Abstract: Purpose In order to improve the quality of academic exchange and knowledge dissemination, it is necessary to actively carry out research on the collaborative development of academic journals and preprints. This paper explores the mechanism of the journal preprint policy, grasps the policy path of the collaborative development of journals and preprints, promotes the organic linkage between academic journals and preprints, and provides a basis for the formulation of relevant guidelines and normative policies for journals. Methods Based on grounded theory, this study summarized the categories and built models of the preprint policies of 120 journals, sorted out the mechanism of their action on the academic exchange behavior of authors in preprint, and analyzed the interaction mechanism of each module. Findings 1 story line , 3 scenarios (main categories), 9 categories and 25 concepts of the action mechanism of periodical preprint policy on authors’ communication behavior were summarized, and a policy-scenario-behavior integrated model of the action mechanism of periodical preprint policy was constructed. Conclusions It is suggested that periodicals should pay attention to: improving the policy environment and increasing the willingness of authors to contribute to preprint; Promote collaborative service and cultivate preprint behavior literacy of authors; We should advocate credible communication and clearly stipulate the responsibility of preprint communication.

  • Research on Collaborative Development Path and Strategy of Scientific Journal and Preprint Platform

    Abstract: Purposes To explore the collaborative development path of scientific journal and preprint platform, and put forward the collaborative development strategy of scientific journal and preprint platform, so as to provide reference for building a new academic exchange model in the open science era. Methods International representative cases of cooperation between scientific journal and preprint platform were selected, and descriptive case study was used to summarize and sort out the characteristics of existing typical cooperation models, from which the collaborative development path of scientific journal and preprint platform was extracted. Findings The research found that there are three collaborative paths in the cooperation between scientific journal and preprint platform, which are resource collaboration driven by platform development, process collaboration driven by user demand, and goal collaboration driven by open science. Conclusions It is suggested that scientific journal and stakeholders of preprint should fully understand the benefits of collaborative development, continuously strengthen the awareness of collaborative development, formulate collaborative development policies as soon as possible, and jointly build a collaborative development ecology.

  • Review of Deep Learning for Language Modeling

    Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Deep learning for language modeling is one of the major methods and advanced technologies to enhance language intelligence of machines at present, which has become an indispensable important technical means for automatic processing and analysis of data resources, and intelligent mining of information and knowledge. However, there are still some difficulties in using deep learning for language modeling for technology development and application service in the library and information science (LIS) field. Therefore, this study systematically reviews and reveals the research progress, technical principles, and development methods of deep learning for language modeling, with the aim at providing reliable theoretical basis and feasible methodological paths for the deep understanding and application of deep learning for language modeling for librarians and fellow practitioners. [Method/Process] The data used in this study were collected from the WOS core database, CNKI literature database, arXiv preprint repository, GitHub open-source software hosting platform and the open resources on the Internet. Based on these data, this paper first systematically investigates the background, basic feature representation algorithms, and representative application development tools of deep learning for language modeling, reveals their dynamic evolution and technical principles, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages and applicability of each algorithm model and development tool. Second, an in-depth analysis of the possible challenging problems faced by the development and application of deep learning for language modeling was performed, and two strategic approaches to expand their application capabilities were put forward. [Results/Conclusions] The important challenges faced by the application and development of deep learning for language modeling include numerous parameters and difficulties to adjust accuracy, relying on a large amount of accurate training data, difficulties in making changes, and the intellectual property and information security issues. In the future, we will start from two aspects of specific domains and feature engineering to expand and improve the application capabilities of deep learning for language modeling. Specifically, we focus on consideration of the collection and preparation of domain data, selection of model architecture, participation of domain experts, and optimization for specific tasks, in order to ensure that the data source of the model is more reliable and secure, and the application effect is more accurate and practical. Moreover, the strategic methods for feature engineering to expand the application capabilities of deep learning for language modeling include selecting appropriate features, feature pre-processing, feature selection, and feature dimensionality reduction. These strategies can help improve the performance and efficiency of deep learning for language models, making them more suitable for specific tasks or domains. To sum up, LIS institutions should leverage the deep learning for language modeling related technologies, guided by the needs of scientific research and social development, and based on advantages of existing literature data resources and knowledge services; they should carry out innovative professional or vertical domain intelligent knowledge management and application service, and develop technology and systems with independent intellectual property rights, which is their long-term sustainable development path.

  • Research on Cognition and Use of preprint server by Chinese Researchers

    Abstract: 目的/意义 当前全球学术交流模式发生深刻变革,我国正积极探索预印本平台建设路径,需要深入了解和掌握我国科研人员对预印本平台的认知与使用情况。 方法/过程 面向全国科研人员(包括研究生)开展问卷调查,调查内容包括科研人员对预印本及预印本平台的认知程度,对预印本平台的功能需求与使用情况,对预印本政策的需求建议等三个层面,并从概况、年龄、角色、学科等多个维度对调查结果进行分析。 结果/结论 我国科研人员对于预印本交流已有一定程度的认知,但总体认知水平还并不高。不同年龄和学科背景的科研人员使用预印本平台的行为有一定差异,国外预印本平台是目前我国科研人员的首选。我国科研人员普遍认为,制定预印本政策对促进我国预印本交流、预印本平台发展有重要意义。我国预印本平台建设应重视提升青年科研人员认知、关注用户需求差异性、完善平台功能、构建多层级的预印本政策体系。

    Abstract: Abstract   Objective/Significance the background of the wave of open science and the explosive growth of science and technology, it is of great significance to pay high attention to and study information security hidden dangers objectively existing among them, and to guarantee the information security of scientific research results publication and academic exchange in China. Methods/Process This paper sorts out and interprets the concept of information security of scientific papers under open science, and conducts a comprehensive analysis of the possible dangers during the publication process, and builds an information security framework on this basis. Result/Conclusion  It is necessary to pay more attention to the problem of information security in Chinese scientific and technological papers, and establish the review and processing mechanism of information security in the process of paper publication.
