  • Investigation of the theoretical model of scientific journal layout focusing on disciplines and influence

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-05-23

Abstract: Purpose/Significance This study aims to explore the theoretical model of scientific journal layout and provide references for the layout of scientific journals in China. Methods/Procedure  The research utilizes methods such as online research, scientometric analysis, and induction to analyze the disciplinary and influential structure of internationally renowned publishing institutions. This analysis abstracts and formulates the theoretical model of scientific journal layout. Results/Conclusions  The theoretical model of scientific journal layout is a comprehensive matrix that integrates management, covers a wide range of disciplines, exhibits distinct levels of influence, and includes diverse types of journals. The layout of scientific journals in China should simultaneously focus on the differentiation in both disciplinary and influential dimensions. In terms of disciplines, it is important to strive for diversity while avoiding overlap, redundancy, and gaps. In terms of influence, a reasonable structure of hierarchies should be established, including high-end comprehensive "leading journals," targeted "key journals" focusing on specific objectives, and foundational "cornerstone journals" filling the gaps. Additionally, it is necessary to improve the mechanism for manu

  • Review of Predatory Journal Studies from the perspective of scientific integrity

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Library Science submitted time 2023-04-25

Abstract:   Purpose/Significance This paper summarizes the representative research achievements on predatory journals at home and abroad, and provides a reference for the related research. Method/Process The literature reading method and network survey method were used to investigate predatory journals in terms of basic theory, characteristic indicators, country distribution and operation mode. Result/Conclusion Predatory journals have derived a series of related concepts with profound theoretical roots. Predatory journals present new characteristics with the times, thus requiring smarter methods to identify and track such journals. Developing countries with underdeveloped scientific research are the main originators and victims of predatory journals. Predatory journals imitate the operation mode of regular journals in the process of establishment, profitability and dissemination, which makes it difficult to manage predatory journals. Future research can focus on five aspects: defining the concept of predatory journals, tracking the characteristics of predatory behavior, assisting accurate identification by artificial intelligence, improving the mechanism of peer review, and multinational communication and collaborative governance.
