Abstract: We study a class of models in which the inflaton is minimally coupled to gravity with a term爁(R)phiv2. We focus in particular on the case where爁~R2, and the expansion of the scale factor is driven by the usual potential energy, while the rolling of the inflaton is driven by the non-minimal coupling. We show that the power spectrum is in general blue, and the problem of getting a running spectral index is eased. However, the inflaton potential must have a large second derivative in order to get a large running.

Abstract: We investigate爐he爉easure爌roblem in爐he爁ramework of inflationary cosmology.燭he爉easure爋f爐he爃istory space is constructed and applied to爄nflationmodels. Using this爉easure, it is shown that爐he爌robability爁or爐he爂eneralized single-field slow roll爄nflation爐o last爁or燦 e-folds is suppressed by a factor exp(-3N), and爐he爌robability爁or爐he爂eneralized n-field slow roll爄nflation爄s suppressed by a much larger factor, exp(-3nN). Some non-inflationary models such as爐he燾yclic model do not suffer from this difficulty.

Abstract: We use the爏tochastic燼pproach to investigate燼爉easure爁or爏low roll爀ternal爄nflation. The probability爁or爐he universe to have燼爂iven Hubble radius can be calculated in this framework. In燼爏olvable model, it is shown that the probability爁or爐he universe to evolve from燼爏tate with燼爏maller Hubble radius to one with燼爈arger Hubble radius is dominated by the classical probability without the爏tochastic爏ource, while the probability爁or爐he universe to evolve from燼爏tate with燼爈arger Hubble radius to one with燼爏maller one is suppressed by exp(-Delta S), where the de Sitter entropy S arises naturally in this爏tochasticapproach.
