  • Evolution of groundwater recharge-discharge balance in the Turpan Basin of China during 1959–2021

    摘要: Groundwater overexploitation is a serious problem in the Turpan Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, causing groundwater level declines and ecological and environmental problems such as the desiccation of karez wells and the shrinkage of lakes. Based on historical groundwater data and field survey data from 1959 to 2021, we comprehensively studied the evolution of groundwater recharge and discharge terms in the Turpan Basin using the groundwater equilibrium method, mathematical statistics, and GIS spatial analysis. The reasons for groundwater overexploitation were also discussed. The results indicated that groundwater recharge increased from 14.58108 m3 in 1959 to 15.69108 m3 in 1980, then continued to decrease to 6.77108 m3 in 2021. Groundwater discharge increased from 14.49108 m3 in 1959 to 16.02108 m3 in 1989, while continued to decrease to 9.97108 m3 in 2021. Since 1980, groundwater recharge-discharge balance has been broken, the decrease rate of groundwater recharge exceeded that of groundwater discharge and groundwater recharge was always lower than groundwater discharge, showing in a negative equilibrium, which caused the continuous decrease in groundwater level in the Turpan Basin. From 1980 to 2002, groundwater overexploitation increased rapidly, peaking from 2003 to 2011 with an average overexploitation rate of 4.79108 m3/a; then, it slowed slightly from 2012 to 2021, and the cumulative groundwater overexploitation was 99.21108 m3 during 19802021. This research can provide a scientific foundation for the restoration and sustainable use of groundwater in the overexploited areas of the Turpan Basin.

  • Design and commissioning of a wideband RF system for CSNS-II rapid-cycling synchrotron

    摘要: The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) upgrade project (CSNS-II) aims to enhance the beam power from 100 to 500 kW. A dual-harmonic accelerating method has been adopted to alleviate the stronger space-charge effect in rapid-cycling synchrotrons owing to the increased beam intensity. To satisfy the requirements of dual-harmonic acceleration, a new radiofrequency (RF) system based on a magnetic alloy-loaded cavity is proposed . This paper presents design considerations and experimental results regarding the performance evaluation of the proposed RF system through high-power tests and beam commissioning. The test results demonstrate that the RF system satisfies the desired specifications and affords significant benefits for CSNS-II .

  • Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Biological Activity of 1-(4-(4-Ethoxybenzyl)piperazin-1-yl)-2- (2-methylphenoxy)ethanone

    摘要: One novel phenoxyacetamide derivative (C22H28N2O3, Mr = 368.47) has been synthesized and determined by means of NMR spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The single crystal belongs to the monoclinic system, space group Cc with a = 14.910(3), b = 14.592(3), c = 38.683(8) Å, β = 100.37(3)°, V = 8279(3) Å3, Z = 16, Dc = 1.183 g/cm3, F(000) = 3168, μ = 0.079 mm-1, MoKα radiation (λ = 0.71073 Å), the final R = 0.0508 and wR = 0.0666 for 4120 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). There are four independent molecules in an asymmetric unit cell. The four symmetry-independent molecules have a variety of different conformations indicating considerable conformational freedom. The bioassay results indicated that the title compound displayed effective activities against glutamine-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells and significantly prolonged the survival time of mice subjected to acute cerebral ischemia.

  • The performance of Pt/air oxygen sensors in stagnant Pb-Bi eutectic at high temperatures

    摘要: Oxygen control technology is a critical issue for compatibility of candidate structural materials with liquid lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) in accelerator driven systems. Performances of a self-developed Pt/air sensor and another one from Karlsruher Institute of Technology (KIT) were tested in stagnant oxygen-saturated liquid LBE. Calibrations showed that the trend and values of corrected electromotive force (EMF) of the self-developed sensor, with a bias voltage of 20 mV, were consistent with theoretical results above 425 ℃, and similar results were obtained in cross-calibration test with EMF value of KIT sensor as reference. In stability test at 450 ℃ for 100 hours, the KIT sensor performed better than the self-developed one, which showed signal fluctuations. Both sensors exhibited quick response to temperature variations in the responsiveness test.

  • Adamantane-Resistant Influenza A Viruses in the World (1902-2013): Frequency and Distribution of M2 Gene Mutations

    摘要: Adamantanes (amantadine and rimantadine) have been used to prevent and treat influenza A virus infections for many years; however, resistance to these drugs has been widely reported in the world. To investigate the frequency and distribution of M2 gene mutations in adamantane-resistant influenza variants circulated in the world between 1902 and 2013, 31251 available M2 protein sequences from different HA-subtype influenza A viruses (H1-H17) were analyzed and adamantane resistance-associated mutations were compared (L26F, V27A, A30T, A30V, S31N, G34E, and L38F). We find that 45.2% (n = 14132) of influenza A (H1-H17) viruses circulating globally were resistant to adamantanes, and the vast majority of resistant viruses (95%) bear S31N mutations. Whereas, only about 1% have V27A mutations and other mutations (L26F, A30T, G34E, and L38F) were extremely rare (their prevalence appeared to be < 0.2%). Our results confirm that H1, H3, H5, H7, H9, and H17 subtype influenza A viruses exhibit high-level resistance to adamantanes. In contrast, the appearance of adamantane-resistant mutants in H2, H4, H6, H10, and H11 subtypes was rare. However, no adamantane resistance viruses were identified among other HA subtypes (H8, H12-H16). Our findings indicate that the frequency and distribution of adamantane- resistant influenza variants varied among different HA subtypes, host species, years of isolation, and geographical areas. This comprehensive study raises concerns about the increasing prevalence of adamantane-resistant influenza A viruses and highlights the importance of monitoring the emergence and worldwide spread of adamantaneresistant variants.
