摘要: Pathogenic mycobacteria transport virulence factors across their complex cell wall via a type VII secretion system (T7SS)/early secreted antigenic target-6 of kDa secretion system (ESX). ESX conserved component (Ecc) B, a core component of the T7SS architecture, is predicted to be a membrane bound protein, but little is known about its structure and function. Here, we characterize EccB1, showing that it is an ATPase with no sequence or structural homology to other ATPases located in the cell envelope of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv. We obtained the crystal structure of an EccB1-DN72 truncated transmembrane helix and performed modeling and ATP docking studies, showing that EccB1 likely exists as a hexamer. Sequence alignment and ATPase activity determination of EccB1 homologues indicated the presence of 3 conserved motifs in the N- and C-terminals of EccB1-DN72 that assemble together between 2 membrane proximal domains of the EccB1-DN72 monomer. Models of the EccB1 hexamer show that 2 of the conserved motifs are involved in ATPase activity and form an ATP binding pocket located on the surface of 2 adjacent molecules. Our results suggest that EccB may act as the energy provider in the transport of T7SS virulence factors and may be involved in the formation of a channel across the mycomembrane.

摘要: A negative correlation was found to exist between the low-energy spectral index and the redshift of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) by Amati et al. It was later confirmed by Geng & Huang and Gruber et al., but the correlation was also found to be quite dispersive when the sample size was significantly expanded. In this study, we have established two even larger samples of GRBs to further examine the correlation. One of our samples consists of 316 GRBs detected by the Swift satellite, and the other one consists of 80 GRBs detected by the Fermi satellite. It is found that there is no correlation between the two parameters for the Swift sample, but there does exist a weak negative correlation for the Fermi sample. The correlation becomes even more significant when the spectral index at the peak flux is considered. It is argued that the absence of the correlation in the Swift sample may be due to the fact that Swift has a very narrow energy response so that it could not measure the low-energy spectral index accurately enough. Further studies based on even larger GRB samples are solicited.

摘要: A new complex [Cd2(L)2(Cl)2(H2O)]n (1) was synthesized by reacting CdCl2·2.5H2O with 4-(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenylacetic acid (HL) ligand. The structure of the complex was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and PXRD. Complex 1 crystallizes in triclinic, space group P21/c with a = 11.4303(8), b = 14.1792(10), c = 14.6857(10) Å, β = 96.3780(10)º, V = 2365.4(3) Å3, Z = 4, C20H16Cl2N6O5Cd2, Mr = 716.09, Dc = 2.011 g/cm3, μ = 2.069-1, S = 1.051, F(000) = 1392, the final R = 0.0458 and wR = 0.0949 for 5402 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). Complex 1 is a two-dimensional (2D) layer structure and non-covalent bonding interactions such as C–H···π and π···π extend the 2D to form a three-dimensional supramolecular polymer.

摘要: Chromatin assembly in eukaryote is a well-organized process in which DNA and histone are hierarchically packaged into the nucleosome and chromatin. The assembly and disassembly of chromatin decode the genetic information stored within the chromatin. Histone variant and histone chaperone are major players in regulating the chromatin assembly and virtually involve in all DNA-based processes. In this review, we discuss the recent findings that provide insights into the assembly mechanism of histone variant H2A.Z and CENP-A, and highlight the important roleshistone chaperones play in this process.

摘要: We present a new HI mass estimator which relates the HI-to-stellar mass ratio to four galaxy properties: stellar surface mass density, color index $u-r$, stellar mass and concentration index, with the scatter of individual galaxies around the mean HI mass modeled with a Gaussian distribution. We calibrate the estimator using the xGASS sample, including both HI detection and non-detection, and constrain the model parameters through Bayesian inferences. Tests with mock catalogs demonstrate that our estimator provides unbiased HI masses for optical samples like the SDSS, thus suitable for statistical studies of HI gas contents in galaxies and dark matter halos. We apply our estimator to the SDSS spectroscopic sample to estimate the local HI mass function (HIMF), the conditional HI mass function (CHIMF) in galaxy groups and the HI-halo mass (HIHM) relation. Our HIMF agrees with the ALFALFA measurements at $M_{HI}\gtrsim 5\times 10^9M_{\odot}$, but with higher amplitude and a steeper slope at lower masses. We show that this discrepancy is caused primarily by the cosmic variance which is corrected for the SDSS sample but not for the ALFALFA. The CHIMFs for all halo masses can be described by a single Schechter function, and this is true for red, blue and satellite galaxies. For central galaxies the CHIMFs show a double-Gaussian profile, with the two components contributed by the red and blue galaxies, respectively. The total HI mass in a group increases monotonically with halo mass. The HI mass of central galaxies in galaxy groups increases rapidly with halo mass only at $M_h\lesssim10^{12}M_{\odot}$, while the mass dependence becomes much weaker at higher halo masses. The observed HI-halo mass relation is not reproduced by current hydrodynamic simulations and semi-analytic models of galaxy formation.

摘要: We provide a complete description of the skeletal anatomy of the holotype of Chiappeavis magnapremaxillo, the first enantiornithine to preserve a rectricial fan, suggesting that possibly rectricial bulbs were present in basal members of this clade. Notably, Chiappeavis preserves a primitive palatal morphology in which the vomers reach the premaxillae similar to Archaeopteryx but unlike the condition in the Late Cretaceous enantiornithine Gobipteryx. If rectricial bulbs were present, pengornithid pygostyle morphology suggests they were minimally developed. We estimate the lift generated by the tail fan preserved in this specimen and compare it to the tail fans preserved in other Early Cretaceous birds. Aerodynamic models indicate the tail of Chiappeavis produced less lift than that of sympatric ornithuromorphs. This information provides a possible explanation for the absence of widespread aerodynamic tail morphologies in the Enantiornithes. 契氏鸟(Chiappeavis)是首次发现保存有扇状尾羽的反鸟类,显示出尾羽球茎这一结构在较原始的反鸟类中已经发育。详细描述了巨前颌契氏鸟(C. magnapremaxillo)正型标本的骨骼形态学特征。契氏鸟的腭区形态与始祖鸟(Archaeopteryx)相似,而区别于晚白垩世的反鸟类戈壁鸟(Gobipteryx)。即使具有尾羽球茎,鹏鸟类的尾综骨形态也表明该结构发育较差。估算了在契氏鸟中由扇状尾羽所产生的浮力,并与其他早白垩世鸟类进行对比。结果显示,契氏鸟的扇状尾羽所产生的空气浮力小于同时代生活的今鸟型类,这有可能解释了反鸟类中具有空气动力学功能的尾羽形态普遍缺乏的现象。

摘要: Nodal links are special configurations of band degeneracies in the momentum space, where nodal line branches encircle each other. In PT symmetric systems, nodal lines can be topologically characterized using the eigenvector frame rotations along an encircling loop and the linking structure can be described with non-Abelian frame charges interacting among adjacent bands. In this paper, we present a photonic multiple nodal links system, where non-adjacent band topology is proposed to characterize the hidden relation between nodal lines from non-adjacent band pairs. Through an orthogonal nodal chain, the nodal line from the lower two bands predicts the existence of nodal lines formed between the higher bands. We designed and fabricated a metamaterial, with which the multiple nodal links and non-adjacent band topology are experimentally demonstrated.

摘要: Microstructure and oxidation behavior of modified Ni-16Mo-7Cr-4Fe alloys by yttrium microalloying were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, grazing incident X-ray diffraction and synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence. M6C and Ni17Y2 phases were observed and the amount of Ni17Y2 increased with yttrium concentration. When the yttrium concentration increased to 0.43wt.%, some Ni17Y2 chains and multi phase regions containing Ni17Y2, M6C and phase appeared, which is harmful for the oxidation resistance. The alloy containing 0.05wt.% yttrium showed the best oxidation resistance, which derives its oxidation resistance from the adequate concentration of yttrium in the solid-solution ( phase), the formation of the protective layer of YCrO3 and chromia oxide and the strengthening effect of yttrium on oxide boundaries.

摘要: Two coordination polymers (CPs), {[Ag(ADA)0.5(DPE)]·H2O}n (1) and {[Ag(ADA)0.5(Bipy)0.5]·H2O}n (2), (H2ADA = 3,3-azodibenzoic acid, DPE = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)- ethylene, Bipy = 4,4΄-bipyridine), have been synthesized via solvothermal reactions of Ag+ with ADA2- and/or DPE, Bipy. CPs 1 and 2 were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, thermal behaviors, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. CPs 1 and 2 feature “Ag···Ag” subunits. CP 1 shows a 3D construction, in which the “Ag···Ag” subunits extend through ADA2- and DPE ligands using μ6-kO,O;kO;kO;kO,O;kO;kO and μ2-kO;kO coordination modes, respectively. It crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P, with a = 0.3808(18), b = 1.2476(6), c = 1.309(6) nm, α = 76.757(5), β = 84.649(5), γ = 86.809(5)º, V = 0.6024(5) nm3, Z = 2, Mr = 351.11, C13H11AgN2O3, Dc = 1.936 g/cm3, F(000) = 348, S = 1.064, R = 0.0323 and wR = 0.0689. CP 2 exhibits a 3D supramolecular structure, in which the “Ag···Ag” subunits are connected by ADA2- and DPE ligands with μ6-kO;kO;kO,O;kO;kO and μ2-kO;kO coordination modes, respectively. Ultimately, through hydrogen bond and π···π interaction, the “Ag···Ag” subunits stabilize the 3D supramolecular structure of 2. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c, with a = 25.301(15), b = 13.197(8), c = 6.970(4) nm, β = 102.597(7)º, V = 2.271(2) nm3, Z = 8, C12H10AgN2O2.50, Mr = 330.09, Dc = 1.931 g/cm3, F(000) = 1304, S = 1.082, R = 0.1107 and wR = 0.2984. The fluorescence properties of CPs 1 and 2 have been also investigated.

摘要: Rare information on photodisintegration reactions of nuclei with mass numbers $A \approx 160$ at astrophysical conditions impedes our understanding of the origin of $p$-nuclei. Experimental determination of the key ($p,\gamma$) cross sections has been playing an important role to verify nuclear reaction models and to provide rates of relevant ($\gamma,p$) reactions in $\gamma$-process. In this paper we report the first cross section measurements of $^{160}$Dy($p,\gamma$)$^{161}$Ho and $^{161}$Dy($p,n$)$^{161}$Ho in the beam energy range of 3.4 - 7.0 MeV, partially covering the Gamow window. Such determinations are possible by using two targets with various isotopic fractions. The cross section data can put a strong constraint on the nuclear level densities and gamma strength functions for $A \approx$ 160 in the Hauser-Feshbach statistical model. Furthermore, we find the best parameters for TALYS that reproduce the A $\thicksim$ 160 data available, $^{160}$Dy($p,\gamma$)$^{161}$Ho and $^{162}$Er($p,\gamma$)$^{163}$Tm, and recommend the constrained $^{161}$Ho($\gamma,p$)$^{160}$Dy reaction rates over a wide temperature range for $\gamma$-process network calculations. Although the determined $^{161}$Ho($\gamma$, p) stellar reaction rates at the temperature of 1 to 2 GK can differ by up to one order of magnitude from the NON-SMOKER predictions, it has a minor effect on the yields of $^{160}$Dy and accordingly the $p$-nuclei, $^{156,158}$Dy. A sensitivity study confirms that the cross section of $^{160}$Dy($p$, $\gamma$)$^{161}$Ho is measured precisely enough to predict yields of $p$-nuclei in the $\gamma$-process.
