  • Neutrino Origin of LHAASO's 18 TeV GRB221009A Photon

    摘要: LHAASO collaboration detected photons with energy above 10 TeV from the most recent gamma-ray burst (GRB), GRB221009A. Given the redshift of this event, $z\sim 0.15$, photons of such energy are expected to interact with the diffuse extragalactic background light (EBL) well before reaching Earth. In this paper we provide a novel neutrino-related explanation of the most energetic 18 TeV event reported by LHAASO. We find that the minimal viable scenario involves both mixing and transition magnetic moment portal between light and sterile neutrinos. The production of sterile neutrinos occurs efficiently via mixing while the transition magnetic moment portal governs the decay rate in the parameter space where tree-level decays via mixing to non-photon final states are suppressed. Our explanation of this event, while being consistent with the terrestrial constraints, points to the non-standard cosmology.

  • Optimizing Higgs factories by modifying the recoil mass

    摘要: It is difficult to measure the WW-fusion Higgs production process (e+e− ! ¯ h) at a lepton collider with a center of mass energy of 240-250 GeV due to its small rate and the large background from the Higgsstrahlung process with an invisible Z(e+e− ! hZ, Z ! ¯ ). We construct a modified recoil mass variable, mp recoil,defined using only the 3-momentum of the reconstructed Higgs particle, and show that it can better separate the WW-fusion and Higgsstrahlung events than the original recoil mass variable mrecoil. Consequently, the mp recoil variable can be used to improve the overall precisions of the extracted Higgs couplings, in both the conventional framework and the effective-field-theory framework. We also explore the application of the mp recoil variable in the inclusive cross section measurements of the Higgsstrahlung process, while a quantitive analysis is left for future studies.

  • Lepton-Flavored Electroweak Baryogenesis

    摘要: We explore lepton-flavored electroweak baryogenesis, driven by CP-violation in leptonic Yukawa sector, using the τ −µ system in the two Higgs doublet model as an example. This setup generically yields, together with the flavor-changing decay h → τµ, a tree-level Jarlskog-invariant that can drive dynamical generation of baryon asymmetry during a first-order electroweak phase transition and results in CP-violating effect in the decay h → τ τ . We find that the observed baryon asymmetry can be generated in parameter space compatible with current experimental results for the decays h → τµ, h → τ τ and τ → µγ, as well as the present bound on the electric dipole moment of the electron. The baryon asymmetry generated is intrinsically correlated with the CP-violating decay h → τ τ and the flavor-changing decay h → τµ, which thus may serve as “smoking guns” to test lepton-flavored electroweak baryogenesis.
