    Abstract: [Purpose/significance]This paper establishes an analysis and design framework-- the value ring model for enterprise think tank activities and operation, so as to enhance value contribution of enterprise think tanks, which contributes to the strategy position realization.[Method/process]In this paper, the value chain model in business administration was referenced to establish a value ring model for think tank activities. The type analysis method was used to collect relevant information of enterprise think tanks and describe the specific operation of different types of value creation activities. The expert discussion method was used to analyze the main problems and solutions of enterprise think tank value ring operation.[Result/conclusion] It is feasible to analyze the value creation activities of enterprise think tanks with the value ring model. The connection and bonding degree of research/exchange/dissemination is positively associated with the value contribution of enterprise think tanks: the higher the connection and bonding degree is, the greater the value contribution is. The lower the connection and bonding degree is, the smaller the value contribution is.

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper summarizes the research status of Chinese enterprise think tanks, points out the existing problems, and puts forward the research agenda of Chinese enterprise think tanks, with the purpose of guiding the academic research direction of Chinese enterprise think tanks, and providing theoretical guidance for the construction of Chinese enterprise think tanks.[Method/process]In this paper, the literature analysis method was used to analyze the research papers of Chinese enterprise think tanks, research works of think tanks and reports of think tanks evaluation. Then, it analyzed the problems existing in the research of Chinese enterprise think tanks and put forward the research agenda of Chinese enterprise think tanks by the expert discussion method. [Result/conclusion] The research of Chinese enterprise think tanks lags behind the practice of Chinese enterprise think tanks, falling behind studies of other types of think tanks. The research agenda of Chinese enterprise think tanks includes strategic positioning, value activities, resource allocation, key capabilities, influence etc

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper provides a strategic positioning framework for Chinese enterprise think tank construction, contributes to strategic adjustment and reorientation of the existing Chinese enterprise think tanks, and helps Chinese enterprises which set up enterprise think tanks designing strategic plans.[Method/process]This paper combed and analyzed the strategic positioning of Chinese and foreign enterprise think tanks by the case analysis method, and summarized the strategic positioning framework of enterprise think tanks. [Result/conclusion] The three elements of strategic positioning of enterprise think tanks are as follow. First, the service target can be divided into enterprises which set up the think tank and its related enterprises, the media and the public, government decision-making departments and international organizations. Second, the main function includes decision support, industry innovation, political consultation and suggestion, and public diplomacy. Third, the research area can be described from three dimensions: theme, time and space. Three questions and answers mentioned above constitute the strategic positioning matrix. Based on the strategic positioning matrix, we can summarize and refine the value proposition of enterprise think tanks, or design the strategic positioning matrix according to the value proposition.

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Internationalization is one of the important tasks of the new think tank construction with Chinese characteristics. As one newcomer of internationalization, Chinese think tanks have the necessity to learn from foreign pioneers’ successful experiences. [Method/process] We selected 10 think tanks from different lands with diverse stages of development and growth patterns. Then, we did in-depth case studies on each of them. The research materials were derived from the 10 think tanks’ official websites. Based on the case study, this paper summed up the successful experience of the internationalization process. [Result/conclusion] As for the strategy orientation, the think tanks’ internationalization requires a global vision and layout, leaders with a central role, a balance between the governmental communication and independent research. In terms of the operation pattern, it requires enough research funding, high-level researchers, high-quality research results, as well as various ways of international cooperation. Finally, we had a discussion on the enlightenment for China from these experiences.

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance]The paper aims to provide analysis framework and methodology for the strategic positioning and operation model of China's new think tanks so as to help them with the strategy design, operation and management.[Method/process] In doing so, the paper has adopted the theory and methodology of business model from science of business administration, and has also taken into consideration of the characteristics of different Chinese think-tanks.[Result/conclusion]Strategy positioning solves the problem of “what to do” with the purpose of “doing the right thing”, which involves four factors, namely, service object, research field, research region and function selection, while operation model aims to solve the problem of “how to do” with the purpose of “doing things in a right way”, which involves five elements, namely, source of funding, core resources, key activities, partners, cost structure and their combination.

    Abstract:[目的 /意义]国际化是中国特色新型智库建设的重要任务之一。中国智库作为国际化后来者,有必要学习和借鉴外国智库先行者的国际化成功经验。[方法 /过程]选取国际上不同发展阶段,不同成长模式的10家智库进行深度个案研究,研究资料均来源于各家智库的官方网站。通过资料收集、整理和分析形成单个案例。再在单个案例研究基础上,归纳总结出各类智库国际化成功经验。[结果 /结论]在战略定位上,智库国际化需要全球化视野和布局,需要发挥核心作用的领导人,需要在政府沟通与独立研究之间取得平衡;在运营模式上,智库国际化需要充足的研究经费、高水平的研究人员、高质量的研究成果,以及多种方式的国际合作。
