Abstract:
Persistent genital arousal disorder (PGAD) and genito-pelvic dysesthesia (GPD ) jointly known as persistent genital arousal disorder/genito-pelvic dysesthesia syndrome(PGAD/GPD). It is a newly discovered entity in recent years, featuring spontaneous or secondary genital arousal and dysesthesia in the genital and pelvic areas. This syndrome mainly affects women and the special symptoms of the disease can seriously affect the physical and mental health of the victims, most patients are in anxiety, depression, and suicidal even be committed. Attention had been paid by medical community abroad, and PGAD/GPD was included in international classification of diseases-11 (ICD-11). Given the fact that lacking recognition of this special entity among domestic health providers at present, we introduce the research status and the latest expert consensus of PGAD/GPD abroad in this review, hoping to raise the attention of our clinicians.
