• Subject Service Embedding Teaching Based on Precise Integration of Teaching Resources: A Case Study on a Micro Lesson of “the Mechanism of Cell Senescence”

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] "Center for Teaching Quality" and "Teacher Solutions 2030 Team" in the United States predict that teachers will become a mixed profession in the future, and the teaching regimen will provide a customized and meaningful learning program for students in a different manner. Subject librarians should actively explore and become a member of the teaching team. Based on the professional knowledge and skills of subject librarians, this paper proposes an embedded subject service model based on library resource organization.[Method/process] Using case analysis method, taking the University micro Lesson as an example, a framework of micro lesson teaching resource organization based on fragmentation knowledge unit is constructed, presenting in the superstar learning platform.[Result/conclusion] The research shows that subject information resources is the fundamental and foothold of subject service. Subject librarians, through efficient resource organization, discovery and presentation, realize the precision service oriented to the subject, thus becoming an organic part of the teaching and scientific research team in Colleges and universities. This research provides a new attempt for subject librarians to precisely embed the subject services.

  • Research on Monitoring Technologies of Library Seating Resources Using Mobile Crowdsourcing

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance]This paper studied how to efficiently use the seat resources of libraries, and proposed low cost and easy to maintain technologies for seat resource management. The existing approaches are mainly based on deploying related hardware and software systems. Such methods are expensive, difficult to maintain, and with poor user experience.[Method/process] With the help of mobile crowdsourcing, the paper used technologies such as indoor location and context aware, and proposed a seat resources management technique framework. The system was realized using wechat application and evaluated under real situations.[Result/conclusion] The result showed that the technology has low cost and easy to deploy, and great progress has been made for the problem of efficiently using the seat resources of libraries.

  • The Practice and Enlightenment on Digital Scholarship Service of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Digital scholarship is one of the trends in academic libraries. This paper briefly summarizes the digital scholarship service of library at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in order to provide references for the domestic academic libraries. [Method/process] Based on literature review, the paper clarifies the connotation and extension of digital scholarship, and analyzes the significance of digital scholarship services in academic libraries. Then, it introduces the progress of digital scholarship service in academic libraries. Moreover, it summarizes the development history, development mode and service guarantee of digital scholarship service of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library by case study and network survey. [Result/conclusion] The paper presents some suggestions to promote digital scholarship in China including reviewing own service resources and discovering user needs, assessing service capability and determining service content, enhancing librarians' competence ability and focus on cooperative research, and building digital repository.

  • Research on Hook Model of Discipline Service for Anchoring User Demand Pain Points

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Domestic subject service is mainly based on the active service of librarians and the passive acceptance of users. While achieving certain results, it also exposes the problems of low engagement and weak cooperative sense of users as well as diminished personal accomplishment of librarians, which leads to the unsustainable development of subject service and difficulties of forming a positive long-term mechanism. From the point view of user behavior habits, this study aims to provide reference for university libraries to develop sustained and effective subject services by cultivating users' active triggering behavior of demand pain points, developing dependence on subject service habits, and enhancing users' stickiness and loyalty.[Method/process] Based on the hook model theory and information interaction model, a questionnaire was designed to investigate the behavior habits and needs of users of subject service in acquiring and utilizing academic resources. Then, by investigating the behavior characteristics and rules of different users, the real needs of users were found and located, and a three-stage anchored service strategy framework was constructed.[Result/conclusion] The research shows that the three-stage service strategy follows the hook model theory, circulates and integrates with each other. It can give full play to the advantages of each librarian's specialty and team cooperation, enhance the value of subject service and user loyalty, stimulate users' pain points from the outside which from low to high, and users actively trigger and complete the pain points. Finally, staff precisely locate the pain points of users' needs and provide effective service incentives to induce users to re-invest or upgrade pain points, thus forming a closed-loop discipline services.

  • Practice and Enlightenment of Long-term Preservation of Digital Resources in Indiana and Montana

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The paper introduces the practice of long-term preservation of digital resources in Indiana and Montana, and provides reference for preservation of digital resources in libraries in China. [Method/process] The practices of long-term preservation of digital resources in Indiana and Montana are compared and analyzed from such aspects as organizational structure, the policy and fund support, the technical service platform and the features of the project, and the methods and experience of digital preservation are summarized. [Result/conclusion] Main enlightenments: conduct top-down advocacy and education training of the long-term preservation of digital resources by the Steering Committee for Academic Libraries of China at different levels, establish a capital support mechanism for sustainable development, carry out pilot project on the basis of cooperation, assess the present situation of digital preservation at each institution to identify the demands of digital preservation, make policies by reference to the mature digital resources preservation model, and select the appropriate technical platform and service.

  • Research on Reading Promotion from the Perspective of Total Quality Management

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The scientific and effective management of reading promotion is conducive to improving both service level and service quality. It can also ensure the healthy and lasting development of reading promotion. [Method/process] Using the TQM theory, this paper comprehensively analyzes the system elements involved in the reading promotion activities, including the responsibility subject, the promoting object, the promoting content, the environmental resources and the technical conditions, and teases out the working process of the reading promotion by referring to the PDCA cycle. Then, to prove its effect, TQM theory is applied to the reading promotion program of Sichuan Normal University. [Result/conclusion] It is proved that TQM theory has important practical significance for reading promotion.

  • The Value, Model and Strategy of Academic Libraries' Participation in Fake News Governance

    Abstract: [Purpose/significance] This paper summarizes the practice of fake news governance of academic libraries and provides the reference for outreach service.[Method/process] First, through literature review, the paper sort out the social value, practice types and governance strategies of libraries in fake news governance. Then, through the internet investigation of 13 university libraries, the paper summarized the practice model of university libraries participating in fake news governance from three aspects:fake news resource construction, information literacy education, and fake news identification methods.[Result/conclusion] The breadth and depth of participating in false news governance is a manifestation of the social value of the library. A three-dimensional false news governance system can be established from resources, services and ecology, and fake news governance capabilities can be strengthened from four aspects:organizational structure, resource service capabilities, library association and librarian capabilities.
