Abstract: Substance addiction involves multiple factors, ranging from biological, social, to cultural. But the dominant biological reductionism-based explanations focus primarily on the brain, potentially hindering a more comprehensive and inclusive research of substance addiction and its recovery. We propose that network theory, focusing on feedback loops formed by interactions between myriad psychological disorder variables, will provide a better holistic framework to understand the complexity of substance addiction. Applying network theory to substance addiction may provide new insights in (1) understanding the interrelationships and interactions between symptoms, (2) understanding the systematic integrity and dynamic changes in symptom networks, and (3) integrating multiple levels of factors into a unified theoretical framework. Also, network theory may generate new approaches for future interventions and treatments. In sum, networktheory, as a theoretical model, provide a new perspective for understanding substance addiction and its intervention. We believe this reframing will encourage more empirical research toward various other hypotheses within this framework, thus, promoting the treatment and recovery of substance addiction.

Subjects: Mechanics >> Applied Mechanics submitted time 2023-03-20 Cooperative journals: 《应用力学学报》

Abstract: The aim of this study was to explore the effect of targeted modulation of the tibialis anterior muscle by transcranial direct current stimulation ( tDCS) on static balance performance.Totally 24 collegestudents received 20 min of tDCS and sham on tibialis anterior muscle at 2 mA in a randomized order.Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and balance tests were completed to assess the neurophysiologi-cal and balance performance before and after each stimulation. Results show that tDCS significantly in-creased the mean displacements in the Y-direction ( MDY) on both double with eyes-opening and singlewith eyes-closing.Compared to the baseline , tDCS significantly reduced MDY on double with eyes-openingand the mean velocity in the Y-direction on single with eyes-closing. tDCS significantly increased the meandisplacements X-direction ( MDX) on double with eyes-opening and single with eyes-closing and the maxi-mum sway diameter in the X-direction on doublet with eyes-opening.Compared to the baseline , tDCS sig-nificantly increased MDX on double with eyes-opening , single with eyes-opening, and double with eyes-closing; furthermore , the mean velocity in the X-direction on double with eyes-closing was increased.Com-pared with baseline ,tDCS significantly reduced resting motor threshold.'Targeted stimulation on the tibialisanterior muscle by tDCS is effective in improving the single balance with eyes-closing.

  • A standardized checklist on reporting meta-analysis in open science era

Subjects: Psychology >> Statistics in Psychology submitted time 2022-07-30

Abstract: Meta-analysis is a crucial tool for accumulating evidence in basic and applied research. In the open science era, meta-analysis becomes an important way for integrating open data from different sources. Meanwhile, because of the great researchers’ degree introduced by multiple-step and multiple-choices in each step of meta-analysis, the openness and transparency are crucial for reproducing results of meta-analysis. To (1) understand the transparency and openness of meta-analysis reports published in Chinese journals and (2) improve the transparency and openness of future meta-analysis by Chinese researchers, we developed a Chinese version of checklist for meta-analysis, which was based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis protocols (PRISMA) and the principle of openness and transparency, and then surveyed the methods and results of 68 meta-analysis papers in mainstream Chinese psychological journals in last five years. Our results revealed that openness and transparency of Chinese meta-analysis reports need to be improved, especially in the following aspects: the date/time and limitation of literature search, the details of screening and data collection, the flow chart of article screening, the details of effect size transformation, and the evaluation of individual research bias. The checklist we present, which lists almost all aspects that an open meta-analysis should include, can be used as a guide for future meta-analysis.

  • 鄱阳湖湿地土壤微生物群落结构沿地下水位梯度分异特征

Subjects: Biology >> Ecology submitted time 2018-06-09 Cooperative journals: 《

Subjects: Medicine, Pharmacy >> Preclinical Medicine submitted time 2017-12-21 Cooperative journals: 《南方医科大学学报》

Abstract: Objective To assess the value of urinary liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) in early assessment of the severity of traumatic brain injury and in predicting the occurrence of acute kidney injury (AKI) following the brain injury. Methods Sixty-five patients with traumatic brain injury patients were divided into 4 groups according to their Glasgow coma scale (GCS) scores. Blood and urine samples were collected at 2, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h after the injury to detect serum creatinine (SCr) level using biochemical analyzer and urinary L-FABP using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), with samples from 15 healthy adults as controls. The correlations were analyzed among SCr, urinary L-FABP, GCS score upon admission and AKI occurrence. Results The patients with moderate to severe brain injuries showed significantly higher SCr and urinary L-FABP levels than the control group (P<0.05). GCS score of the patients was inversely correlated with the levels of SCr and urinary L-FABP (P<0.05), and the changes were more prominent in urinary L-FABP than in SCr. The incidence of AKI was 21.54% in these patients. In patients with AKI, urinary L-FABP reached the peak level as soon as 6 h after the injury, as compared with 24 to 48 h when peak SCr level occurred. Conclusion Urinary L-FABP can be used as a marker for early assessment of the severity of traumatic brain injury and for predicting the occurrence of AKI following the injury.
